a friend who actually lives in California now sent this along:
Google has updated its satellite imagery of Colorado with new high-resolution data. This means you can finally see interesting details of PMI (the track in Pueblo), such as the turn complex from T5 to T7 that's completely misrepresented in the track's own map at http://pueblomotorsportspark.com/pmifaq.htm. This is now useful for tracing a new track map for teaching purposes, T-shirts, or whatever.
Go go http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Bahama+Dr,+Pueblo,+CO or
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=continental+divide+race+track,+Mead+CO
or http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Second+Creek+Raceway,+Denver+CO,
then click on "Hybrid" or "Satellite" to see the pictures, and zoom in as much as you like.
The same data are available in Google Earth, with some pretty spectacular results. For example, check out Trail Ridge Road in either Maps or Earth.
you can also see an improved La Junta (well, the imagery) at http://maps.google.com/maps?q=railroad%20st.,+la%20junta+CO
cheers,
bruce
