I need to go racing in October ! I have taken time off work and i want to put it to good use ! soooo.
With only 20 something drivers wanting to goto Sandia I'm thinking we should talk Dave and Revkah into LaJunta... I know it's not the best track in the world but we had more drivers for lajunta than Hastings  I would guess Sandia and Hastings are to far away . ? ok so how abou Lajunta in October.
I would guess we need somewhere around 50 paying drivers.
If we don't have enough for Sandia Who wants Lajunta.
please post if you want something in October and if Lajunta is better than NADA.

Chris recently had a traumatic experience with a wall at a kiddie go-kart track... he got smashed into it a bunch (frequently by me) and sparks were flying as the high school kids who worked there were yelling at us. :D

Sandia just sounds more fun.

Chris brings up a good point. La Junta is notoriously hard on cars, and having run hard at Sandia a good number of days, I can say it is not.

I'd rather go to Sandia! On a side note, 28 September is an open track day at Pueblo, and a couple of us 350Z guys are heading down there for that.

Wow..... thought I'd take a shot at getting Miller since everyone isn't all that keen on Sandia or LaJunta.
Miller was very short in saying they aren't interested in renting out the track to us in Oct.

I know I never drove Miller, and it may be a fantastic track (I doubt it, tho, given the lack of elevation changes, etc.) but I would most likely say "no" to Miller for three reasons.
1) It's a helluva haul, over the mountains, etc.
2) As best I can recollect, none of the Salt Lake City folks have come back this way for any of the NASA-RM races
3) Miller took NASA-RM last year - as the first racing organization I think - but had absolutely no qualms about dumping us this year. I have no interest in giving them my $$.
Dave, if I'm wrong on any of these points, please correct me, so I can avoid spreading bad stories.
My two cents.

I am not for sure on this but I thought that Aaron Pfadt and his 944 spec buddy were from that area.
And that Aaron cat is one cool dude.

I wondering why we're talking about Utah and La Junta when we already have a fun track scheduled for Oct. It's the walls isn't it ?? :D
Or is everybody entering the 24 Hours of LeMons ?

I'm all for whatever we do that weekend...Sandia...LaJunta...even CNS!!!
I've already got that weekend scheduled off from work. Sandia will be a more expensive and time consuming trek to make from Kansas, but I'm prepared for it...although cheaper and closer is always good too.
The Oct 20/21 weekend looks like it will be my last NASA event weekend of the year! Pueblo is a "NO GO" for me in November. My daughter was selected as one of the Jr. High extras in the High School Musical. :D That's great for her, but the series of performances just happens to coincide with the Pueblo event weekend in November.
Come on guys...lets make something happen Oct 20/21!

What exactly does that mean? They have a full schedule and can't rent us the track or they don't want to rent us the track?
Seriously, did we do something to piss them off? I guess when you spend $50 million on a track you can be selective in who you rent it to because you will never get your money out of it. I'm with Chris, it's a nice track and all but tell them to shove it where the.... well you get the idea.

It sounds like they are bringing the track down starting in Oct for repairs and construction??? and it won't be available to anyone. Just their answer to "Is the track available on Oct 20/21?", was short with no explanation ("no").
I had to to some investigation to see that it wasn't available to anyone.
They absolutely want us there and we are working the June 2008 date. 3 days - big track again.

I looked at their schedule a week or so a go and there was NOTHING in Oct. Right now there are a couple of east track days the first week then nothing...
big track at miller sounds very good. i was there in july and broke my tranny while driving the east track. to the uninitiated-- don't let the flat terrain fool you! this place is quite interesting to drive and the facilities are real neat. larry miller is repaving some (or all) of the track because of some failures in some corners. if any of you found the "high performance driving" magazine, you will find an interview of alan wilson, which explains seeming high concern for the maintenance fo the place.

Maybe the Miller folks didn't let the pavement "cure" long enough before everyone started driving on it. Remember them paving the paddock area on Friday afternoon before our Sat./Sun. event last year?
Kevin has assured us this won't happen with Genoa. I believe he said they'll be letting the pavement "cure" for 60 days before anyone is allowed on it.

As I read it, Alan's comment boiled down to "no elevation, no challenge, really boring."

Being that it was my first race as a rookie last year, I probably don't know too much about it. But here is my two cents. Miller was awesome. Beautiful facilities and a 4+ mile track that was very challenging. I would go back in a heartbeat and would hope everyone would see for themselves how nice of an establishment it is. :D

I might as well start leaking info on the 2008 season so everyone can start planning.
Miller will be June 13-15 - big track. Start talking smack on the various boards and let's get some cars from CA.

Dude we really need to make this a crossover with NASA Norcal if that is possible at all. I don't know what this involves but Tommy and I know a few guys from that neck of the woods including Tony G maybe we can whine a little and help make it happen. Let me know.

The 944-spec group will make this event our west of the Mississippi river championships. AZ , Norcal, and Midwest (a 8 car hauler)... maybe even so cal !
if we have less than 35 944 spec cars i will be disappointed.

Sorry to drag our feet folks. I'm still waiting on a few phone calls to see if we can make October work, but based on feedback it's not looking good.
22 yes's vs. 16 yes's for LaJunta and Sandia aren't giving us the warm and fuzzy when we need 60-65 entries to make it work. :( Having beat the bushes in the NM area, we'll see about the same local support that we did at Hastings (6 cars?).

Is it possible to open registration for Sandia to see how many will actually commit? There are folks who don't participate in the forum and would not be aware of a possible cancellation until it's too late. If it ends up that there are not enough registrants, you can always cancel.
Also, is it possible to charge more to make up for low registration? I would be willing to pay more to play.:p

I think if registration opens it gives us ammunition to load up on "other" forums to possibly generate some more #s to make Sandia work. Thanks
