During HPDE can one request a certain instructor?
If you are on your second HPDE can you request the same instructor that you had at your first event?
kyle
we are willing to take your request but we can't promise. there are several criteria we take into account (some of which) revolves around the number of students registered, the car they are bringing, the track we are at and the experience of the student at that track.

If we can request, I will definatly like to request a different instructor from what I had this weekend. It seems as though everyone else had a blast with their instructors.... unfortunatly I did not.

Cool.
If I could and as long as he doesnt mind I would like to request Scott Lockhart (MHISSTC). Scott and I have been talking a bunch and he is a very calm guy and easy to get along with. that and we are already friends so technicaly he can yell at me and call me name's if he feel's the need. :D
If not no big deal.
edit... For the LaJunta HPDE

Scott was my Instructor for the event. He's a fantastic teacher. Very calm, but not afraid to interject when he needs to. I learned so much from him it's not even funny.

I'm not positive I will be at La Junta or not. We'll see as the date gets closer.
Scott did recomend moving to HPDE group 2 but I will likely try and grab an instructor if I go to La Junta. Ya know, unfamiliar track and all.
That doesn't necessarily mean I'll need to have instruction for Scott. If you want to request him as your instructor by all means feel free to do so. I can pretty much work with anyone.
first, we will have no bidding on scott (or any other instructor) as i haven't determined my fee for that service (and most likely never will :) ).
as a general note: you may have been moved from one group to another during this past weekend (or any future weekend), however, this does not mean the new group number you are in at pueblo will be your group for lajunta. for example, let's say pueblo was your first ever event and you moved from group 1 to 2. the next event is at lajunta but it is your first time at that track and only second ever track event. you will most likely be placed in group 1 again for that track/event. here is the reasoning. you are on an unfamilair track and have not yet accumulated enough track/seat time overall to be proficient at mastering a new track quickly and safely. an instructor is again your best bet for a new track. however, as your proficeny improves and you are able to quickly learn the lines safely, your move from group to group may be sped up (it all depends on your ability, consistency, attitude, etc.) to further the example, you may find someone in group 4 who has never been on a particular track but may have 4-5 years of track experience at a dozen or more tracks. generally this indivdual has the experience to be on an unfamiliar track and be able to navigate it safely while learning it quickly. our goal is to help you learn quickly and the more you do this with an instructor, generally the faster it goes. i hope this makes sense and i will certainly answer any questions this may bring up.

Well said Kevin!
In short, HPDE1 and HPDE2 is the same group (as many have noticed). If in doubt, we will toss you in HPDE1 at a new track, you can drive with an instructor for a session or two and then be cool for driving solo.

at any time at an event you can talk to your group leader or Kevin about issues with your instructor. Sometimes personalities don't mesh and some shuffling might help.
cheers,

Exactly. If you have been in group 2, or even 3 or 4 on a specific track, and are now driving on an unfamiliar track, you may want to make sure you have an instuctor right off the bat to help learn the track. Sign up for group 1. I think it will be a lot easier to start out slow and move up and go solo if/when you're ready than it will be to sign up solo, possibly be frustrated, and then try to get an instructor, especially if they are already all spoken for.
I'll use myself as an example. Last weekend was my first time at PMI. With zero time on the track and without any prior instruction on the proper line, it took me a good 2-3 very slow laps before I thought I had a decent idea where the proper line was and to begin to recognize some of the track's geographic features. Only then did I even try increasing my speed ever so gradually for another 2-3 laps. Even after that, I asked the other instructors with more experience at PMI what line they were driving and for any tips they could give me.
as long as he doesnt mind I would like to request Scott Lockhart
we will have no bidding on scott

What if I don't want to ride with Kyle? If he gets his twin turbo Saleen ready, I may be too scared to ride with him! ;)
Nobody knows everything. My personal opionion is that you will learn more by having different instructors ride with you. I've had instructors that I've liked better than others, but I've learned from them all. I've benefitted from their different experiences and viewpoints. No matter who the instructor was, I found as a student I could get more out of it if I asked questions.

ha ha. The Saleen scares me and wont be on the track untill I have alittle more experience.
I will probably bring either the SVO or the XR7.
I dont plan on tearing it up first time out I just want to learn and get the experience that I need safely make it around without incident.
Like I said. I'm OK with any instructor.
Hey Scott you sure did get popular in a hurry. ;)
