I really like the body style but those wheels are pretty blingy!

Ya gotta find that body in white!

its kinda cool but i just don't get why American companies have to keep trying to bring back old cars? Why cant they just make a good new car?

I think it's because old guys (like me) like the retro body styles. I gotta admit, I really dig the '05-up Mustang.

Chris,
Hank is right, all us older dudes that grew up in the 70's dreamed of 69 DZ code 302 Z28's, 1970 340 Sixpack TA Challengers, 69&70 Boss 302 Mustangs. If you werent a 7 year old kid watching a pack of these cars shaking the ground you will never understand. These were more than cars to a generation they were everything that was great about America and being a boy. Now that most of us have grown up and become financially stable
Detroit can sell these cars faster than they'll be able to build them. 400HP with AC on and a CD player getting 20mpg and a warrantee!!! and all for $30K
I strongly beleive us X gen dudes are the last of the REAL car guys. On saturday nights in the 70's and early 80's it was Blue Oval vs. Bowties and those kooky Mopar dudes. I don't think you younger dudes will ever understand.
Welcome back Pony Cars :D

As well as young guys like me. I think it is awsome that they are bring the older cars back. I am far too young to remember racing in the 70's and 80's but I do remember helping my neighbor work on his challenger. It was awsome.

Nicely put RayBob ! The challenger truly is an automotive icon worthy of resurrection (and making it handle) I was lucky enough to have owned two of them, and not a day goes by that I don't regret parting with them. Yes, I was one of those kooky Mopar dudes cruising Colfax on Saturday nights, however I consider myself a member of the "blank generation"

vintage racing around here has a 1972 cutoff year and I asked once why it wasn't moving up with advancing years. The answer was that the 60's and early 70's were a special time in racing history that should be preserved.
cheers,
bruce

I'd agree with that, Bruce. To some people, "vintage" means greater than (say) 25 years, and to others it is more of an era. I think of vintage as Trans-Am, '60s fuel altereds, and air-cooled Porsche 911s winning all the time. For some people, that's way too modern!

I do like modern cars. But because of my age, Mustang IIs, Foxbodies and late-70s Camaros just don't seem to fit my personal definition of "vintage".

BTW I dig this shot of the Challenger; found it on one of the other sites:

Thanks Hank,,
I just can't get enough of that new Challenger.
I e-mailed Dan Bodene at Dodge Motorsports and asked him about the Challenger (BIW) and he hasn't returned
my e-mail.

When I see the return of all of these cars memories of hot dates, prom night, and washing Dad's (383 Roadrunner) and Uncle Gene's (Eliminator Cougar) cars come immediately to mind.

I can easily imagine a Challenger dropped with bubbled out fenders and big road racing slicks! What a project that would be!

Pant, pant...

Especially with Barrett-Jackson on at the same time with similar cars. Cant wait for Saturday night and the cars that will be auctioned. A few are Carroll Shelbys own personal cars.
