I was checking into hotels last night. There is a Best Western in Tooele, about 5.5 miles from that track at $73/night right now. The other hotels in town were a little higher. I wonder if we could call and get a group rate??? Dave any thoughts??

On that note, the Audi Club, which is at Miller the Monday/Tuesday after us has a $79/night group rate and the Holiday Inn by the Airport (about 20 miles from the track), so it might be worth looking into.

We will have a host hotel and the track says we get a "better rate". I'll get details soon.

I am hoping to have a 15 passenger van before we head to miller. I don't know how many seats would be open for extra passengers but I'm sure i could beat southwest on price, and if i let Rick drive i bet we could be close on time (he passed me on sunday night like i was towing a trailer).

both Frontier and Southwest have programs where you sign up on their website and they email you flight specials that you have to book within a certain time period (e.g. that day). I have seen $49 each way from Denver to SLC which helps a bit.
bruce

Post what you find.

I want to go, but I'm a cheap S.O.B. My plan is to drive to Denver and fly out to SLC on Thursday, May 18th before the event, rent a car, participate in the event, and fly back Monday, May 21st after the event.

Here's what I've found so far. I'll edit this message as I find more.

I rented a Mini Cooper in SF when I was a guest instructor at a BMW DS at Sears Point last year. What a hoot! Then, the day after I took a Russell school that I won in their Formula Mitsubishi cars. That was driving nirvana weekend, and work paid my airfare since I happened to be working in SF the week prior.
:D

A couple of things:

Chuck, do you have a phone number for the hotel where you just booked?? I'll follow suit.

Scott L., I'll be diriving out from Denver on Thursday the 18th in the mustang, and returning on Monday the 22nd. You are welcome to ride with me and save the airfare (if you can put up with me for 7 hours or so).

Cheers,

Don

Perfect timing. I found out last night I got those days off from work approved.

Don,

I may just take you up on that offer. I'll get back to you once my room reservations are made.

Thrifty has a Kia Rio ($89.32)

So... does that mean we're going to have a Kia Rio race? :D

Kia Rio...the new budget spec series.

It sounds good to me. The only spec series requirements are you have to provide the paperwork that you either rented the car, or purchased it used from the rental car company. In addition, you must carry two Grande sized Starbucks coffees in the cupholders (are there cupholders?). Time penalties will be assessed according to the volume of coffee spilled during the race.

Dave mentioned the possible availability of the old Bondurant cars. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I booked a two queen bed room at the Best Western since it was the cheapest rate available. That's more than I need by myself, so if anyone needs a place to crash, let me know.
