Hey guys. I've been checking out the prices and availability of the toyo tires here in town. After Bsing for a bit with one of the parts guys here at work he made a phone call to a friend at a Jim Parris.
He has 4 of the 255/50/16 tires in stock at a price of 180. They are higher priced because they are in the warehouse. If the guy orders them they would be right around 170.
I also asked him about a grouop buy and if he wanted to stock the tires. He said he would be interested in both a group buy and stocking them IF he was actually selling them and not just sitting on them.
He is going to call me back tomorow and let me know the details.
Basicly I need to know about how many of you would be interested and if so which tire and what size.

If it's only for that size, I have no use for those.

didn't you see the earlier thread about using The Tire Source in Boulder for tires? I'd suggest at least giving them a call to check prices. We need to try to concentrate buying if we hope to get trackside support.
thanks,

This is the only thread that I saw about tires.
http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=86
Did I miss something. I believe that the guy selling them is in the springs.
I was kinda hoping to find some one a little closer to the denver/metro area.

Please use either Tire Source or Pikes Peak if you are buying Toyos. They are authorized by Toyo (we're almost done with the certification for Tire Source) as a race dealer and have the capability to shave.
We've worked to get screamin deals for our racers through these dealers, please use them...

to add a comment to Dave's reply, I live in Cheyenne, and went out of my way to get the tires at TS, and the price was decent...$168/tire for 275/40/17s...we do need to try to stick together on this...btw, tire shops that are experienced at race balancing, with tape wieghts, are uncommon;)

Ok someone needs to sticky the information so that new members (like me) can see it.
http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=96&highlight=Tire+source
Not to sound like a jerk but this info needs to be present somewhere on the board so that it can be easily found for new members.
I never saw this thread because I joined a week after the last post was made. If it was a sticky I probably would have seen and then I wouldnt of been calling around to different places trying to find the darn tires and at a good price.

I have been buying my tires from Pete at TS for about 6 years and consider him a friend and car enthusiast.. The fact is that he sells the race tires almost at cost and is hard to beat for service. Do not really know why he does this i guess he makes his money selling fancy retail tires to Boulder Yuppies. Any how this is the only supplier i will use at any price..............the shop ma be shabby but the service is good.
ps he also has a guy Steve who will give you an excellent race car alignment and allow you to watch in the "wings "

Ditto everything Malcolm said above! There's only one place I will go, and I live 30 miles from the Tire Source. Pete, Steve, and the rest of the guys are the best around.

Sweet.
For the best price and NASA support contact.
The tire source in Boulder colorado.
Contact PETE @ 303 443 3021
thanks for the sticky that should help out any new members that are looking for the tires.
Now I'm a little confused about the guys in Colorado springs.
Will they also be supporting NASA and us or not.
If so can we get someone to post the contact info on this thread.
thanks

I'm guessing at some point we'll have a "sponsors" page (or "deals" page) where this info will be readily available. This way we don't have to depend on people seeing the thread.

Wow, 122 a tire for 944 Spec Toyos.
That said, I too have had awesome experiences at the Tire Source. I always ship my Tire Rack tires there to be mounted and they are always the cheapest to do custom alignments.

Yeah, good luck getting a 225/50-15 RA-1 shaved and mounted for under $200 a piece now. Heck, good luck finding a steady supply of RA-1's in general anymore.

Thought Toyo was still making the RA1 and they were easy to find?
If not I guess I'll run the Nt01 this year instead...

There have been supply problems on and off for a few years now. On more than one occasion, Parker Motorsports has bailed our racers out when RA-1's could not be found anywhere else, but it came down to buying the last tires they had.
Anyway, just price NT-01's vs RA-1's and you'll find yourself saving a few hundred bucks a season by buying the NT-01's. Not sure what Tire Source or Parker Motorsports wants for them, but OnlineTires.com has them for $122.20/each in 225/45-15. Needless to say, that's what I'll be using if I bother racing this year...

On my M3, which used 275-35-18 tires, the Nitto's were $105 *less* per tire vs the RA1's.
On my hybrid I run 275-40-17 tires and the NT01's are only $20 less per tire, but they also don't need to get shaved, which saves another $15 a tire.

Toyo and Nitto are part of the same company, if it matters.
The Tire Source has moved about 1/4 mile north to the corner of 28th and Glenwood, inside part of the former Ford dealer building (across from Gebhardt). Twice as much space! Same phone - 303-443-3021.

Yeah I know, which is why it's weird the prices of the NT01's are so much less

Another endorsement of Pete and the Tire Source. I've bought a lot of tires from them, both street and Hoosiers - very fair pricing and great service.

I don't get it. We supply tires. parts, and trackside service at a great price. we are local and we are fellow racers. We have an abundance of tools and extra parts at the track also. We have a shaver and tires in stock. Am i missing something? Did we do something wrong. people will go out of there way not to go to Parker Motorsports. What gives. Professor really???
Because i'm a lazy cheap whiner.
Actually, Tommy, I've been pretty happy with the tires and service i've gotten from you, and the tires Chuck got from you that i used for the dollar day at PPIR, too. Maybe i'm just biased 'cause i won "Parker bux" at the 944 cash dash in the snow at HPR two years ago. :)
Have faith and advertise. i've got a cheap way to get your name out there if you're interested. let me know...

no complaints with tire source, but Parker motorsports has been THE tire and trailer and safety gear etc etc for all of 944-spec ! (cept the guys who live up North)
it's all good Tommy

Parker Motorsports is the place to go for your racing and in my case, trailer fixing needs.
Tommy's shop is more than fair and the service is great.
Give a fellow racer some support!
