do I need a roll bar? what else do I need?

I want to do a hpde coming up in May at MMP, I have never done one before. I have a toyota MR2 turbo, as if you couldn't figure that out, ha. It is a t-top. I understand that convertibles need a roll bar, but closed top cars do not. Where do targa tops fit into this? I have an open face helmet I have been using for SCCA autoxs, I think it is snell 2005 approved or whatever. I ordered up a set of Toyo RA-1 tires, so I think I am set there. Anything else I need? My car runs well, and has had a mild autox alignment, nothing too aggressive.

Targa top cars are not viewed as convertibles. The difference is targa top cars still provide roll over protection.

If you're using an open face helmet, you'll want some good eye protection.

So to take this question to the next level, can we race a targa top with the top off? Im corner balanced for the top off...
