I didn't see anyone else on here that is located in Pueblo. The closest person on here to me is over 60 miles away. Which brings up another issue, there are no race prep or tech stations in my area or within 60 miles. Although I do know where Joule is located.

60 miles isn't that bad. I regularly travle that distance to hang out with people, get parts, etc.
Shoot I'm in Greeley and have made a trip to Co Springs to hang out with people.

60, give or take a few miles or so, might not be too bad. True, but when you have no way of getting your car up there without having to rent a trailer let alone not having one doesn't make it easier for Tech inspection. When I get my car ready I'm gonna have to some how get it up to CS to have it teched.
I'm not worried about hanging with people that isn't a big problem, it just seems that I'm the only one here from Pueblo.http://smilies.vidahost.com/contrib/lilly/aha1blue.gif
JLMounce, being a former Pontiac owner myself. Is there any way of getting a chance to see your Firebird??? Or at least some pics?

It's currently being built and is in pieces. Are you planning on being at the NASA even at PMI in July?
Fingers are crossed but I'm hoping to bring the Firebird to that event instead of the Cobra.
I'll snap some pictures this weekend of the current progress and send them to you.
Here are few shots of the build. Not current but you get the idea.

The car is a pro-touring build so it's going to be setup for performance street/track driving.
The suspension will be as follows.
-Stock sub-frame with modified geometry (Guldstrand Mod)
-850 lb/in springs with bilstein shocks and hidden adjusters on the front
-Hotchkis 1 1/4" hollow front sway bar
-Custom built 350 lb/in 3" drop leafs in the rear
-Del-a-lum bushings on the front control arms
-Rubber bushing in frotn spring eye on the leafs with del-al-ul bushing in the shackles.
-Weld in sub-frame connectors
-17x8 front and 17x9.5 rear wheels with 255/275 rubber.
Car is a large stalled automatic which isn't necessarily the best for open tracking but I won't have the money to swap to a manual for some time.

oops, forgot about brakes.
Currently the car has an MP brake 12" front disc conversion with stock drums in the rear. I'll be swapping those out for a Wilwood 13" 4 pot system in teh front and 11" 2 pot system in the rear.

http://www.coloradoneons.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/023.gifSo far so good I'd say. Can't wait to see it on the track, and yes I will be there in July as well as the June events.
I'm kinna hoping to have my car ready by july but as I'm still in tear down mode new things are popping up.

Great shots of your Firebird. I would love to check it out when you get it done. I also have a 69 Firebird that I hope to get back on the road some day. Mine needs a lot of work. I bought the front clip off a buddy who parted out a 69 Firebird to build a Camaro Drag Car. I then bought the remains of another 69 Firebird that another guy used the front clip and subframe for to finish a 69 Convertible. So basically I have a basket case that needs full drivetrain and a front subframe to be complete. But it should be interesting once I have a new place to work on it and a little extra time. I looking at building either a 400 or 455 fuel injected Poncho with a T56 behind it. Unless I get really lazy and just stuff in an automatic. I would love to use Wayne Due's front subframe with his kit for the Corvette IRS out back, but I have not decided for sure. Anyway good luck and send more pictures when you can. Maybe that will help motivate me to get mine going.

Sounds like it would be a good project. I would definitely go with the Wayne Due front sub-frame with the new c5 architecture. I'd stay away from the IRS and go with the DSE 4 link and a built 12 bolt of 9".
As far as the engine the hot ticket with Poncho's right now is a destroked 455. Do a 455 block with a 421 or 428 crank which gives you a much better rod ratio and really increases rpm potential without sacraficing a lot of cubes. It'll come out to around 440" total depending on bore.
ATS performance sells a nice T56 kit for poncho applications. You can see there stuff at www.t56kit.com
