He's looking for about $5.5k. Caged, SCCA logbook, ready to race.

Needs an oil cooler and a seat and you're ready to rock- n-roll. Buy it now and race at Miller!!!!

I have posted a link to this thread on the Utah scca board, but some pics would be nice, and advertising it on their board might generate some interest as people here are still deciding what they want to run, etc...

I'm thinking of selling my 1/2 Prepared Mustang and buying a race ready car. I would prefer a Mustang/Camaro/944. Who do I get hold of to see this 944? I've tried the email above, but didn't get a response.
Spoke to soon, got a response.
Thanx!

Is that cage padding legal? It looks like pipe insolation. I know its not legal for ours, but maybe 944 is different?

That padding on the door bars is too thick to be pipe insulation... it looks like the "foamy noodle" padding, which is perfectly legal, and it's a good choice for them, IMO. For areas that may come into contact with your helmet, I like the denser padding, like the kind that carries an SFI rating (but you can get the same stuff without the SFI sticker for a few bucks cheaper). But that part of the cage doesn't really show much in these pics.

I guess I was thinking the SFI rated stuff had to be used all the way around. Thanks for the clarification :)

I've been thinking about this one a lot lately, even in the face of Gary's misfortune, David's follies at Miller. So recap for me again - it needs and oil cooler and a seat? That's all? I've got the cash for the car but...

I don't have a place to store it, nor do I have the cash for a trailer and an upgraded truck. I have a Ford Ranger that suits me fine for the Winter but it's not the best trailer rig. I can't justify this if I can't get to Hastings and Miller for future events - Pueblo and the new tracks should be an easy drive though. Who's gonna talk me into this - seriously?

Thanks Paul. I'm sure I'll have more questions and may drive up to see you soon to check it out in person (I'm in COS). I've been on the fence about going the Spec 944 route for quite a while, but it seems like you've got a really good deal going here and we might be able to help each other out. I'll put more serious though into this in the next few days and try to touch base with you by the end of the week.

Miller's Sunday's Race winner (full course track record holder) and 2nd place on Saturday DROVE his car up from Arizona. He hooked up a small trailer to carry tires and pack the rest in the car.

I wish I took a picture of it.

Even so a ranger can flat tow a 944 race car with ease. One of our guys used to do that with a Honda Element. (Still will until he can get his RV reliable)

it dose need oil cooler and seat. you can get a seat from dart auto as well as oil cooler.

If you're talking external oil cooler, that's a nice-to-have, not a requirement. I don't use one.

Weston

Yeah, flat-towing works pretty well. With my '98 Chevy Blazer (4.3L V6), I'm getting around 16-18 mpg while flat-towing my 944, and it can get up hills pretty well (for something that's towing).

You can even flat-tow with another 944...

Wow! So the 944spec tech requirements still allow enough equipment for them to be street legal AND they're still competitive? That's cool. :)

I'm thinking a street-legal AI racer would either be too chubby to hold its own, OR get hassled endlessly by the cops :(

Yeah, that's how I got my 350Z up there from Colorado Springs - with a mini trailer toting the track tires and a few tools.

You ARE aware how these guys drive though - right? How many cars tangled in T1 on Saturday?! Gary's #10 didn't even make it beyond offloading from the trailer. Do I even need to mention Dave's spectacular weekend?!;)

I am of course kidding these guys, but my preference in getting to the far-away tracks is with a trailer and a relatively reliable tow vehicle. Beyond that, 9 hours in a race seat would be murder on my back! I must be a wimp.:(

Good luck with that! I just finished the garage and made proper space for my GF's new Altima Coupe (next to my Z of course)! She's not going to yield easily! Wouldn't you know it though; after all the electrical, cabinets, sheet rock and paint, all she really cares about is the stupid tennis ball hanging from the ceiling.

On a serious note, I'd be glad to join you and bolster the 944 presence in COS! ;)
