So, my goal for this year was to become TT eligible by the END of the season. I'm in HPDE3 now, so as far as I understand, here are the steps I must undertake:
1) Graduate to HPDE4 and complete an event in HPDE4
2) Fill out a TT license application and submit to the Regional TT Director
3) After submittal, I must complete one event DAY of TT competition under observation at which point the Regional TT Director approves or disapproves my license.
4) After getting approval, I then send in the APPROVED application with $10 to get my license. Upon receipt of my license, I can then officially compete in Time Trials at my next event.
So, in the context of our new region and the fact that our regional TT director may not be in attendance, I want to make sure I know who to talk to and what to do in order to be most efficient about it. I will only be doing 2 more NASA events this year (La Junta and PMI), so I have 4 days of practice DURING NASA events. In between events, I will be going to PMI for open track days to hone skills and practice fundamentals as well as track sharing.
Who will be the approving authority for graduation to HPDE4? I assume it's Chuck, since he is/was the HPDE3 lead instructor. Once I get to HPDE4 (whenever that may be), then I will submit my TT application. I know Greg is the National TT Director, but who is the Regional director? Would that responsibility fall under Dave B. or Kevin perhaps? If so, then I know I will be under direct scrutiny at all times anyway! :D
THanks for the help guys. I'd love to start off next season competing in Time Trials (TTA).
