OK we are throwing it down !
The MEN of 944-SPEC and mrs Dirks are going racing with the real knuckle draggers of AUTOSPORTS ! WERE Talking NASCAR ! Thats RIGHT (err i mean left) TURN LEFT ! then LEFT ! over and over !
The responce from friends and family has been huge ! NASA will have it's own section in the stands and a "special" entry price ! When you get to the track to buy your tickets go to the south most window "will call" and tell them your with NASA ! we will all be sitting in the turn 1/2 area just look for RayBob , Kent and CODY perched up with a pbr IN EACH HAND ! Should be easy to spot.
Now what is missing here to make this even more fun ???
I know, how about a challenge . SO I say the 944-SPEC drivers are more of a Knuckle Draggin turn left group than the knuckle draggers are ! So any CMC car that wants to come out and drive around in circles with the "Lighting" (Ka Ching) Real men .... if you win the race I will run a CMC sticker on my car at Hastings ! And I will tell all of the CNS race fans how cool CMC is !
For my friends that drive the "big bore" cars here is a track map to study so you do not get lost on the track
http://www.coloradospeedway.com/diagram.htm
NOTE ! we will be using the outside . turns 1 and 2 are lefts ... so are 3 and 4 ! turn 4 leads back to 1 . Study it guys
So NASA family please come out and cheer on Michelle as she goes for her second circle track win of the year. Small kids are free and they will love it ! Big kids are not free but they will love it TOO.
Racing starts at 6 we will be on track around 7 .

07-22-2008, 10:31 PM
hmm. Maybe cmc #71 and #20 should go and chase some 944 cars.
Yeah whats the entry fee yo.
kyle
i'll be there. maybe some of the circle drivers would be interested in instructing at nasa events ;)
svochuck
07-23-2008, 12:37 AM
Entry fee for 3 sessions on the track is $35 ! if you can get 3 cmc cars then you would qualify for TOYO $ !
To come out and watch all of the action will be $13 for adults kids are free and "youths" are like $7 or $8 ...
I know the Ballingits are coming so get Beth and Dave and BAM you have 5 and full TOYO bucks ! or Tyler, Chris and Ken BAM that's 5 !
with PPIR on our schedule we could get HUNDREDS of NASCAR fans who would want to come drive in HPDE 1 or Hyperdrive on a "real" NASCAR track ! WOW that would be a GREAT problem to have ! then say 30 or 40 of them see how cool CMC is and POP BAM SNAP we have the largest field of CMC / AI cars in all of NASA !
So come on NASA boogedy boogedy boogedy lets go RACIN !

Are you guys running your TOYOs for this? Do they get trashed?
I need mine to last me the season.

The tires are only run as hard as you run them . I'm easy on the equipment during fun races like this . Dirks on the other hand will be banging off the rev limiter and smokin the treds !

Birthday party, 10yr anniversary, and a kid recovering from a tonsyl-ectomy will take up my weekend! Oh, and the wife works Sat/Sun to boot! :(

I don't think you want to be out there with Dirks (yes I mean Michelle) without a cage . after winning last time she will be started at the BACK ! That will just make her mad so she will be crashing through the pack !

07-24-2008, 12:03 AM
Bummer, I haven't had time to get to Hanksville and get the NASCAR door bars welded to the existing cage. Oh well, I'm thinking by the time PPIR rolls around I'll have that and some other safety stuff finished.

Chuck,
(1) There is normally an afternoon practice, 2:30 to 4:00 I think. Can we practice. (Let's see, watch on the left arm, follow the watch)
(2) How many laps on our "race"?
(3) I saw talk about Toyo tires, how may will run for Hoozier, if any.
(4) You said $35 for three sessions. I take it that is the entry fee, do we happen to get more than one run.

you know Chuck, were it not for the chicken needing some desperate love (and being up on jackstands) and me having no way to tow the dang there there, I would LOVE to bring it out against the bumblebees, err, Porsches. Oh wait, I don't have a comp license either ;) I guess you all get off lucky!! heh... :p

Oh Yea ! just come out and watch the races and have a beer !
Our 3 sessions will be around 25 laps each.
3 sessions for the $35 pit pass fee.
Any GTS cars want to come have fun going in circles ??? 3 would pay Hoosier money and we could have the second practice be a race for yall.
If the knuckle draggers won't come play then maybe the "DON'T TOUCH ME" crowd will . ?

Cody is cool .
So ok the "knuckle draggers are not going to race. but Yall are coming out to watch us and drink beer

Top 10 list of things the Knucle draggers will be doing besides racingat CNS Saturday night .
10. Eating pork rinds while watching the WWF.
9. Tune the banjo
8. watch reruns of "the dukes of Hazzard"
7. Paint the double wide
6. mow the yard around that car thats up on blocks in the front yard.
5. Floss their tooth
4. Rev tune an engine on the lift.
3. Count ticks on your hound dog.
2. Wash and style the mullet.
And the number one thing the knuckle draggers will be doing insted of racing at CNS on Saturday night is .....
1. Sitting in the stands Drinking PBRs and cheering on Michelle to a second win at a circle track this year !

Last night was a lot of fun...we NEED to get more cars out there and especially get the CMC/AI crowd involved. There were a lot of adults and kids swinging by to check out the 944s, but I'm sure we would have drawn even more interest (given where we were) with some big ol' American V8s sitting there...let alone running on the oval!!!
You can bet Beth and I will have our chicken there next time!!!
BTW, the figure-eight races were CRAZY!!! Talk about adrenaline pumping!!

Yeah, our 944's sure stood out and got a lot of attention, but we all know that crowd likes american cars with V8's.

It wasn't required this time, but if there's any place to run one, it's at a track like this. It's a no-points exhibition race though, so it's not like we're out there running 10/10ths and flirting with the wall.

All,
I just got off the phone with a LONG time CNS fan (he's out there 99% of his Saturday nights.) He wanted me to pass along to the rest of the 944 Spec participants that he & the crowd he sits with at turn 4 was very impressed with our race and said it was one of the best races to watch that night! He said it would be great if we could come back and do it again next year.
So good job, everyone!
RagingAardvark
07-28-2008, 03:44 PM
All,
said it was one of the best races to watch that night!
At least part of that was the complete lack of yellow flags and stoppage...the 944s just kept rolling and when a car had issues, it just exited and let everyone keep running :)
The main event, and the bits of the Brickyard 400 I watched yesterday, had me clawing my eyes out after the 10th caution or so...
chris_venturini
07-28-2008, 03:53 PM
yeah, i was calling the main race "the race that never ends" to the tune of "this is the song that never ends" since 5 laps took 30 minutes on a track that took us 944s 18 seconds to make one lap.

DUDE ! How COOL is THAT ! Those fans loved us Weston . I'm telling you Weston could have gotten married Saturday night if he just would have carried around the big trophy .
That 22 just looks better in first than it does in second . I was just doing my part to help out his poor little sick motor.
ps: No bumper pads were harmed in the making of that picture.
Weston
07-29-2008, 01:11 AM
lol. I'll carry the big trophy around when I get one of my own... I suppose that's the reward for having to talk on the PA in front of 10,000 people.
We'll see what happens next time... In the mean time, I still have a CNS 3rd place trophy from three years ago if I get desperate. (ooh, Chris is super jealous of that 3rd place!)

Yeah not even when I (err.... Bruce Bell) had to remind Chris to "bunch up" on the start. Bunch up in circle track terms is about 6 inches off the bumper, not a car length.

Chuck got his chance to talk, again. They will have to put up with me next time! Ethan, my grandson apparently was yelling at me from the grandstands not to take the high line, drive faster and very disappointed that I let Chuck win!
It was a cool thing Chuck. Something different and our sponsors got some incredible exposure. Racing with thousands of people watching was very different feeling as well. The pits were swarming with people after the race. Next time I suggest we get a better paddock area and stick around after the race.

Yeah, that was a blast! We got a huge amount of exposure too. I really hope we can do this again, and I agree about sticking around in the pits if we can find better spots. Thanks for making this happen, Chuck!
