Looks like CDR has also been shut down at this point.

SO the closest open track facility for northern colorado folks is a quick 3 1/2 hour drive to Pueblo. This state has got to be the worst state there is for racing.

Hey Dave, any insight on this? If this is true, it will be very disappointing - 3 track closures in as many months. This could be bad news.

I'm checking on it.

I'm sure it's a similar story to the rumor last week that Pueblo was closing.... Hopefully this can be proven false and squashed as quickly.

It's hard to know if there's anything we can do to intervine without knowing exactly what's going on behind the scenes. It sounds like political BS. I'm trying to find out more from the member that posted the letter. You would think now that CDR has no competition in the northern colorado, or denver metro areas that they would want to keep this track open from a sheer business standpoint. There's going to be a lot of guys wanting to just run lapse and tests that don't want to travel to Pueblo or elsewhere.

Does anyone have any more information on this?

I still haven't gotten a 100% reliable answer on the fate of CDR, but we are moving forward as if it is closed forever... :(

It was very convienient to have a track right in our "backyard", but the harsh reality of our sport is that it also means it's in somebody else's backyard. I can't comment on the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back, but it's close proximity to new housing didn't help.

I've seen great tracks come and go. We'll get something new to replace PPIR, 2nd Creek and Mead but it will take a while. I remember people bitching in CA because all the close tracks shutdown and all they had left was Sears Point (Infineon) and Laguna Seca!!! Now there's Thunderhill, Buttonwillow, CA Speedway and the plans for the Riverside replacement. Thuderhill and BW are a 3-4 hour drive from the bay area (CA speedway is 7.5 and Willow Springs is 6.5), but people gladly make the drive.

OK... I'll get off my soapbox now :D

To answer the question and respond to the question of what is plan "b", this is our tenative schedule:

Pueblo - March 11/12
Miller Motorsports - May 20/21 (open testing on Friday the 19th)
LaJunta - June 11/12
Pueblo - July 23
MidOhio (NASA Nationals) - September 16/17 (It's actually 13-17)
Hastings - October?

I'm also working on a few other possibilities.

Time Trials and HPDE will be at the above listed event correct?

Do I have to have a NASA license to participate in Time Trials?

Yes, Time Trials and HPDE will be at all of those events.

For TT licensing questions, check Greg's (National Time Trial Director) comments in this thread: http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=12

This really sucks. I'm pondering drag racing for a season... jeez. Crappy turn of events.

Revkah and I will be at Miller Motorsports Park today to meet with the track manager and inspect the facilities.

We'll get some pictures and post a report when we get back.
