Dave,
Did NASA reserve a block of rooms at any of the motels in La Junta? I called the HI Express and they say they are sold out?

Yes, make sure to tell them you are with NASA.

Just called the HI Express. Same thing: "we're completely sold out." I told them I thought there was a NASA block of rooms; she asked me for a confirmation number. Do we have one?
thanks,
chris

Sometimes you need to restate 3 or 4 times that you are with NASA... don't know why.
We have 14 (was 30 - long story) rooms reserved.
Here is the confirmation #:
63794570
You must reserve by tomorrow May 9th!!! After that the rooms will be released and be open to the general public.

well, they say that the first conf number is for Ray Coleman, and the second conf number isn't bringing anything up. Under Dave Balingit they have 10 rooms but can't change the reservation on them (I assume for workers). Then she checked under "NASA Rocky Mountain" and found 15 rooms. Phew ...
cheers,
bruce

Please use the confirmation #63794570
If you want the long story of what happened to the other 15 rooms (now available to the general public), buy me a beer at LaJunta .
Correct, the rooms reserved under Balingit are for NASA staff....

I'll be joining you at the Travel Inn...$38.28/nt
Super 8 was full.
The girl at HI Express knew off the top of her head they were full June 9-11, but when I mentioned NASA RM, said they might still have some of those rooms left. However, she said she was currently under a mountain of pillows in the storage room and asked if I could call back tomorrow morning.
