View Full Version : Do I have to Drain Coolant For HPDE?

I read Somewhere that we can only use water and Waterweter, Is this only For racing or for all on track cars?

I don't know if that rule is for racing, but I'm pretty sure every car in HPDE 1/2 has coolant. I have never been told to run only water.

Look on the Race Car Tech Inspection form, Under engine, The 6th line
Also look at the Se r Cup Rules
7.9 Engine Coolant

The only engine coolant used in the radiator shall be water, through surfactants such as redline "water wetter" or Neo Synthetics "Keep Cool" are allowed . The intent of this rule is to avoid slick track conditions produced by slick track antifreeze

the water rule is for the race cars, not hpde participants

Please review section 11 of the NASA CCR for all HPDE tech requirements. Do not get them mixed up with any requirements for race classes.
