If you're not already watching the thread on the CMC forum, this is worth reading.

(this should link you to page 14 of the "Silly rules season..." thread)
Al Fernandez has a long post at about the middle of the page. He does a very nice job of explaining the compromising/agonizing we are going through right now wrt rules. And for the record, I am 100% certain that whatever we end up with will be roundly criticized.

Well thats what I've sad all along. Even tho CMC is veered just another NASA class, there are SO MANY variables getting the different platforms on track. Different suspension designs, torque curves, weghts, track widths, braking systems, etc. It has to be a very daunting task to try and be an equalizer. It could take years to tweak the rules. They may come out with the 2010 rules and find a certain model or mods are dominating due to something unseen, then what, either people with that platform are gonna change something, or everyone else will be upgrading something.
In this group any change will cause an uproar. And, since we need to be dynamic with newer cars being allowed, there's no telling what can happen 10 years from now. Other 'Spec' classes dont have to deal with this stuff for the most part. You have a bunch or race cars that all look the same and sound the same chasing each other, it is much easier know if you have a cometitive car.
It sure never gets boring!!

This one would be nice to get rid of, hopefully in '09 it wont be an issue for our team:
8.8 get rid of ballast # limit and location restriction

Dave -
I'd be surprised if the 8.8 change makes the cut. But that's only my opinion.

We're thinking the Pumpkin numbers will be ok in '09 given the changes we're making this off season. Sorry we couldnt meet up yesterday.

Dave. Looking good dude. I found a few things that need to be taken care of. No big deal just a few minor issues that dont involve the new motor. More or less chassis stuff.
Motor is out BTW. Prepping the new one to go in. I will need some gaskets and other stuff. I gave Scott a list to get some prices for us.

Holy crap that was fast! How long did that take? Whats the latest on motor and tranny mounts? Excellent work!! I cant wait to start her up! Can ya tell I'm excited with all the explanation points?! Stage 1 going smoothly, stages 2 and 3 coming shortly :)
Did the '94/'95 intakes come off ok and the '92/'93 intakes go on ok? You or I can bring the '94/'95 intakes to Chris M at the banquet. Sorry to go off topic.

I have not started swapping parts over yet so not sure on the intakes.
It took about 4 hours to get the motor ready to come out. Should have taken less time but I spent part of the day cleaning up the shop and BSing with Scott.
I did however find all of your oil leaks and where the smoke was coming from. Also looks like the car heated up on ya a few times.
Again no big deal. No signs of oil leaking from the new motor or anything weirs going on so the motor swap should take care of all of that.
As soon as Scott gets back to me with the parts list we can discuss what you guys want to do and what you want me to do.
