Finished the car this weekend. Have a couple of housekeeping things to finish, but the car is tested (went to Pueblo on Friday) and ready to run! Passenger seat has been installed for those who would like a ride! :D Here are a couple of pics for those that are interested.

See you in Utah in 11 days and counting!!!!

What, us race each other??? I have no idea what you are talking about! :D

Yeah, I know, there aren't any NASA stickers on it. It's still an SCCA race car and since I'm not "racing" it in NASA and I might do some Club Racing where other sanctioning body decals must be removed or covered, I left it in SCCA form. Sorry Dave!! I do have the instructor "X"s though.

Thanks! Nope, this car was not in the videos from Pueblo/La Junta. We didn't have it back then. ;)

It runs in ITE-O in Club Racing and was raced in the SPEED world Challenge last year. It doesn't really fit into any NASA racing class. It is well past the Spec SRT series rules and I haven't looked into unlimited classes. In time trials, at +120 points it would be TTU. :D

Can't really say about the comparisons between NASA and SCCA since I've never run in a NASA class. SCCA Club Racing is as expensive as you want to make it. We ran in 2004 with basically a stock car (T2) and a stripped car with more HP (ITE) and it was a blast. As is, this car has about $60K invested over the cost of the car.

Yup, we rent the open warehouse in the background.

Yeah, when we decided to get out of Pro Racing we decided to sell just about everything. Sold the race engine, wheels, tires, trailer, and still have the toterhome and new SRT4 chassis for sale. However, I am keeping the small open trailer and last years car (shown above) to use for HPDEs and a club race or two. I need to update the website...maybe this week.

The warehouse is in Arvada (I-70/Ward Rd) and is 20" wide, 40" long, and 20" high. It's $675/month. Now that we are downsizing we have given our notice and are looking for a smaller (12x20?) location until I can get into a house with a big garage! ;)

Oh, and with all the teaching I'm doing, racing has to take a back seat at the NASA events, so I'll just run in HPDE4, give rides, and have fun.

Getting a ride shouldn't be a problem. I'll take my students first and then anyone that wants to come along is welcome. ;)

Last year was my rookie year in WC. I finished 2nd in the Rookie of the Year points and 16th of 60 drivers overall.

Well, the strong points of the SRT4 are the engine and the costs. It's an inexpensive (relatively) platform to build and the power it really nice. The limitations are weight (it was on the high side for WC) and suspension geometry. Overall, it's a very good handling car that offers a great bang-for-the-buck. I'm really happy with it.

16 out of 60 is amazing for your rookie year
Are you going to Pueblo or Lajuanta or both?

Well, first thing I'd do is check the local classifieds. There are some on the local SCCA forums:

I use a Bri-Mar trailer. It's only 1750lbs at 18" long. Check out http://www.bri-mar.com.

That's all I've got.

Wow, talk about a loaded question!!! :p Well, I started by driving an Audi A4 Avant and I am an instructor with the Audi Club. The basic answer is they each have advantages and disadvantages.

FWD can be easier to drive because it's really hard to get the back end out of shape, but you are using the front wheels to both turn and drive the car. RWD is traditionally the ideal setup for racing but can be treacherous in the wet. AWD has tons of grip in the corners but is usually heavier and has more HP loss in the driveline. Just depends on what you are looking for and what your needs are. How's that for a compeletly non-committal answer! :D
