noticed this ad for an '89 325is on craigslist

high mileage but looks like a good candidate for a spec e30 race car. Seller has lowered his asking price $500 in the last week or so, so he may be anxious.
With this car, you can build a fun spec e30 car for less than $10K total.

Bruce, can the M series be used in E30?
I'm not knowledgeable enough on the models and did not see any in the regulation list, but I'm not sure if the M is considered as a 3xx. Also, any on that list considered as a "SU" will be removed, does that mean removed completely from the class? Or just placed in the higher HP class?
Looks like someone bought this one!

no, spec e30 is specifically for the non-M cars. Most people are building SO cars (325i or M42 318i based).
There is a proposal/warning that the SU class might be eliminated completely. People with 325e based cars could swap in an i engine relatively simply.
