cages and HPDE

I was reading the rules the other night and saw that if there is a cage installed in the car, it has to meet the applicable parts of section 15. Well, I don't have door bars. There are door bars in the door, but I don't have any on the cage.

Is this going to be a problem? I realize I should have asked this sooner and not the weekend before the event. I have participated in HPDE on the east coast with this setup (not with NASA though) at Summit Point in West Virginia and VIR and never had a problem or any questions asked. The plan is to put some racing seats in eventually and then have door bars added, but I am sure that it will not get done by friday.

Sorry I didn't get back to your email yet. It's better that I answer here so everybody can see too:)

We will allow roll cages in HPDE provided they meet the requirements in section 15.

We would most likely allow an HPDE car to run without door bars provided the factory side impact beams are not removed or modified. This sounds like your case, so you should be good.
