Wheel strength and lightness

forged > semi-solid forged > 3 piece > 2 piece > 1 piece (low pressure casting) > 1 piece (gravity casting)
is this correct?

strength depends on the design of the wheel as well.

I have found the hard way that light (not necessarily cheap) wheels can be a poor value. Without some triangulation in the inner bead area every time you hit something the inner bead ring and barrel will give way. This damage is generally called a hop. Wheel straightening/replacement quickly gets out of hand. A light wheel can make you slower on track, because you can't afford any go fast parts anymore.
