The 2009 Drift Season has officially started. The Colorado Allied Drift Club drift series has undergone a couple of profound changes this season.

The first change being a change of venue. Over the past couple of years, the City of Greeley began re-assessing what types of events would be permitted at Island Grove Regional Park. CADC rose to the challenge of ever increasing safety protocols but ultimately the city decided to bar motorsport events in the stadium parking lot.

While the CADC members and many drifting fans are saddened by this policy change, we were grateful to consider IGRP our primary venue for such a long time.

We are pleased to have Pikes Peak International Raceway become our primary venue this season!

Another significant opportunity is underway for drift enthusiasts in the Rocky Mountain region. The possibility of area drifters to become involved nationally through the NASA Rocky Mountain region chapter! Dave has started researching the possibilities and several CADC drifters are anxiously awaiting the new challenges this would present.

At the grassroots level, CADC has secured several dates at PPIR. On May 31st, CADC will spend the day on the Corporate Track! While being presented as the club's big show/competition, it is always first and foremost, about the opportunity to showoff & develop skills in a safe environment. The second (and most fun) element is the time spent with other drift and autosport fans.

I would like to extend an invitation to everyone to join CADC on May 31st @ PPIR. Participation is open to all and promises to be fun. Only requirements are a vehicle that will pass a simple safety inspection, a valid drivers license, a helmet & a fascination with sliding through turns and burning rubber! Extra tires for your vehicle will be beneficial, but aren't required.

For more information about participating or just spectating, let me know. The best way to reach me is via e-mail to NASA_Sidekick@ live.com, posting a note here or send me a PM.

Oh! Drifting vehicles don't have to be imports nor is entry limited to "cars." We've had pickups drift! We just require four wheels.

The May 31st entry fee is $150 since they're renting out the entire track for this event. Normally, when they the rent VIP lot the cost is around $75. Not sure what the schedule is yet though! Any other information regarding CADC events can usually be found on the forums at www.codrift.org

Happy to announce that the May 31st event @ PPIR is a go! After discussion and a certain amount of negotiation, we've reached an agreement that will ensure this event will be on the Corporate Track!

7:00 AM ~ Gateways will open
8:30 AM ~ Mandatory drivers' meeting
9:00 AM ~ First cars on course
The morning session will be warmup & group determination.
Noon-1:00 PM ~ Lunch break
1:00 PM ~ Show/Competition
5:00 PM ~ Awards will be presented in two catagories:

Advanced & Intermediate

The Advanced group will include the TANDEM Qualified & TANDEM Candidates

The Intermediary group will consist of anyone else that wishes to have their skills judged by their peers. Don't worry! it's all about having a good time and no one loses unless they just don't try!

Event day registrations will be allowed until 8:15 AM! We aren't able to take credit card payments and personal checks won't be accepted. Cash or Money Order only!

Tech inspection is very similar to that for HPDE groups. Helmets are required, as is a valid driver's license.
