The event was great! The thunderstorms hit as we were leaving. We had 32 people & every one of them put on quite a show. We had a very impressive audience, too.
We divided them (the drifters, not the audience!)into two groups: Advanced & Intermediate for the afternoon's 'competition' & show. Our friends @ Mac Autosport sponsored the event by providing 6 trophies!
Top performers in the Intermediate class were:
1st Place: TJ Fry
2nd Place: Joe Lamourex
3rd Place: Zach Kindall
The Advanced group was full of surprises. Over half of the drivers were eligible for this group! It would appear that upwards of 4 years of honing their skills in car control is worth all of the hard work. Our judges were challenged to settle on three top performers. So much so, that we had 4 drivers place in the top three!
1st Place: Kyle Armstrong
2nd Place: Adam "Skippy" McMahan
3rd Place: Brandon Hack & Elusha "Ilya" K. (I have to look up his last name.)
NASA member Del Armstrong placed in the top half of the Intermediate group, putting on quite a show.
NASA member & tandem drifter, Jason Slee ran afoul with a serious wiring problem & wasn't able to run in the afternoon.
Long time NASA Course Official, Madalyn Shalkey got moved into the Advanced group & held her own, with strong, consistent laps.
