In conjunction with the CO Allied Drift Club, NASA Rocky Mountain will be hosting a drifting event at Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley on Dec 18th.

This practice event will give our drifting community a day to shake off the winter blues and get ready for next year's competitions. Get more details and sign up on www.codrift.org

WOW!!! Even with snow on the ground and temperatures hovering in the teens we had 33 cars and 36 drivers enter the event. :D

The course was more of an ice auto-x for the morning hours but just before lunch, it started to show some dry spots and cars were able to start getting some traction. Even if some of the first timers didn't lay down the ideal long sideways drifts, the day was a fantastic exercise in learning car control. The pavement went from dry to wet to ice back to dry in several areas and was a challenge to everyone.

Many many thanks to Troy Merrit from CO Allied Drift Club who was key in organizing this event and to Adam McMahan from Mac Autosports who did the course design and helped with coaching.

Here's a few pics that I took while I was there. The bummer is, there were a number of nice looking cars headed in as we were headed out. So I didn't get shots of them. Oh well, hopefully someone else got some pics too.

Thank you NASA for covering the event! we could not have done it without you!

I had lots of fun just hanging out and getting to talk to the people I see at the few events we have had. Everyone was laid back and chill(double entendre intended).

Hope to see another event in the near future! Hopefully my car will not still be retired for the winter
