It always seemed to rain or snow on Halloween in Colorado when I was a kid. Does the event run rain or shine? Any refunds of the event fees if it's canceled?

Nope, wasn't there. Don't have snow tires, either, or even all-season tires. So you're saying no refund if it's nasty out??

drivin in the wet is the best way to learn car control. And it's WAY FUN !

I believe the official policy is no refunds/credit for HPDE-ers unless the event is cancelled (i.e - track is snowed in, etc). I think the race groups are handled differently though.

The weather was pretty poor the weekend of the April 18-19 HPR event, but the show still went on. The biggest problem was for those from along the front range who were snowed in and couldn't get TO the track. I missed Saturday (shoveled out that day), but made Sunday's HPDE sessions. To Dave B.'s credit (and he was under no obligation to do this), he made a free day available the Friday of May's Pueblo event to those that could make it then.

I'm planning for the Oct 31-Nov 1 HPDE, but really need to wait until closer to the event to see what the forecast might be before registering. I realize that makes it harder for the event organizers. I don't mind a wet track, but I really don't want to become snow-bound between Denver and HPR in a car ill-suited for winter travel.

I've already placed my order for sunny & mild weather that weekend. Hope to see you out there :D

Thanks for the reply, that definitely helps. So registering the week of the event is okay, then? I might wait til I see the 7 day forecast before committing.

Wouldn't mind rain so much, would make it interesting for sure, but summer tires don't mix so well with the white stuff, or black ice for that matter. Problem is it often starts off cold and icy here, then the day can be warm and dry. Getting to the track at 7:30AM could still be difficult in that case.

In about 6 days from now some of the long range computer model guidance will start rolling in, giving at least some type of guess as to the Oct 31/Nov 1 weather...albeit 384 hours out. Its not as accurate as the cricket and knee (who seems to be rather quiet about this event) but at least its something.
