I know nothing about BMWs, so I thought I'd try to find an expert here.
My friend dropped a valve and broke the engine on his car. He either needs to fix it or sell it. He's reluctant to sell it since he loves the car and feels it's not worth much at this point. He's also reluctant to rebuild or replace the engine because he fears the expence. The car has 200k+ miles and still looks and otherwise runs great. Unfortunately, he has the feeling that it may not be worth it in the grand scheme of things to get the engine fixed.
He's asked me, half seriously, if I am interested in buying the car to addeng to my collection. Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm considering it. Somewhere in there I'm also considering an american V8/tranny swap too (a la JTR).
Any guidance or suggestions would be much appreciated.
