We've opened registration. Expect the HPDE1/2 group to fill quickly - don't wait.

Since we're doing something a little different this weekend, let me go into some details.

Saturday:

PMI is rented out to the Miata Club on Saturday the 22nd. However, we've worked out a deal with them to use the track after they are done for the day. We will have a 3 hour HPDE 3&4 "enduro" session from 6pm to 9pm!! This will give some of our participants a taste of driving on the race track as sunlight turns to dusk.

You must be eligible for HPDE 3/4 to run this session. There will be additional info posted about rules such as passing, lights, refuling, spins, farming, etc.

Sunday:
Sunday the 23rd will be the normal schedule of HPDE1-4/TT/Racing and run the entire day.

Sat Miata Club:
The Miata club has some open spots for their Saturday track day for both Miatas and non-Miatas. This is a seperate function from the NASA weekend and IS NOT sanctioned or insured by NASA, but we are passing along the word as a courtesy. Contact Mark @ blues5300@yahoo.com for more details.

Hey Dave, as far as Saturday is concerned, is this endure more of a "relaxed" session or will it be a little competitive?

Am I reading the prices right? It costs more for the 3hr session on Saturday night than it does for the whole day on Sunday? Can we get more details so we know the benefits? I had every intention of doing whatever we have Saturday night, but usually there's a 2-day discount of some sort. Is there something special about Saturday that makes it cost more than full day?

Yeah, you are getting 3 hours of track time instead of 1 hour 20 minutes on Sunday (assuming 4 twenty minute sessions). So for $10 more, you get more then double the track time. Not a bad deal if you ask me. :D

That's what I was asking - we're actually on track for 3 hours? My elbow is going to be sore from propping myself against the door.

That's my understanding. Now, that doesn't mean you are going to run for 3 hours straight, but you could. I'd suggest 15-20 minute sessions with a little break in between for car and driver. You have no idea what starts to get worn out in you brain after the 30-40 minute mark. Get to 1 hour and you are num, get close to 2 hours and you are just plain loopy!!

Also, this type of session is much more accomodating to a slower pace. If you go out and run 95% you are going to wear yourself out, but go 80% and you can work on a lot of things are run a lot longer.

Just some things to keep in mind!

Just registered for both. Yeah, 20mins of the way I run, and both the car and driver are en fuego, so I won't be able to sustain that.

Does this mean that groups 3 and 4 will run together? If so, what will the passing rules be?

Unless something specific to this event is used, it's a safe bet that the rules will default to the lower group, which means group 3 passing rules will be in effect.

Can I run an AIX car in HPDE group so I can make use of the saturday evening session.

Any car can run in HPDE as long as it meets the safety requirements. Since you car is logbooked, it is exempt from HPDE tech.

Many racers use HPDE sessions as a test and tune. As long as the racers are playing per the passing/driving rules of the group it is fine.
