Forza3 online racing - Sat 1/30/10

New thread for racing on Saturday, Jan 30 7-11PM.

If you would like to join us, please do. Racers of all abilities are welcome. We've found that using the performance index of the cars to pick two classes for each race works best. This give newcomers the ability to choose a faster car while the more experienced drivers choose something a little lower on the performance index. We also start with the slower cars and work our way up to the fastest cars during the races so you can get used to the cars/tracks/other racers. This gives us good close racing and is a lot of fun!

That was great fun! When's the next one? :) I took some pics tonight...they turned out blurry on the comp compared to the tv, for some reason. It's kind of nice how Forza 3's photography mode has more options, but on the other hand, it's way harder to tell how it's going to turn out. I was going to take pics of all the cars but I'm lazy :D Let me know if you want some of you and I'll find some.

Thanks to Dillon for posting the pics - that was another great event, and the racing seems to get closer and better each time we do this.

I think I just figured out why Dillon was seeing a VW when Rick was in the Audi at the 'Ring - Rick was using a car from one of the DLC packs, and since Dillon didn't have the DLC (and thus the file for that car) on his XBox, the game showed a generic VW in it's place.

Fortunately you don't have to buy the DLC to be able to see the cars from it if somebody uses one in an online race - you just need to download the free demo for the DLC pack; this gives you one free car from the pack, but puts all of the car models on your hard drive to be able to render them if somebody else uses one.

Hahaha, that's really funny! I swear I wasn't driving a Jetta! :)

I'm out of racing or anything for a while. I've officially been a victim of the "red ring of death". :mad: I'm going to try a couple of the simple fixes for some of the non-critical red ring issues (different AV/power cables) but I'm pretty sure mine is toast. Oh well, more time to work on the racecar. :rolleyes:

Rick - sorry again to hear about the RRoD. Hopefully one of the easy fixes resolves it. Have you looked into the possibility of sending it back to Microsoft?

Dillon - I just saw your comment about the starts in Forza: classic! It's nice not having to worry about when the punt before the green will come! :D

I'll try downloading that DLC pack tonight. Thanks for the tip! I'm wondering if it will be retroactive and the correct car will show in the replay...
