 Not bad for going from 3 TT competitors in 2008 to this.....
And we have four people in HPDE3 who are chomping at the bit to move up in the next few events.
03 TTS Richard Lavender Arvada CO Chevy Corvette Z06 2003 My 401K
07 TTU Bill Mount aurora CO corvette zo6 2007 mount mechanical inc
007 TTC Gary Bohn Arvada CO BMW M3 1998
007 TTD Kasim Esmail Westminster CO Audi S4 Avant 2006
14 TTC Scott Lockhart Goodland KS Ford Mustang GT 1985 Hanksville HotRods
22 TTC Joel Gray Colorado Springs CO Nissan 350Z 2004 g3D Computer Graphics www.g3d.net
41 TTB Kevin Rogers Elizabeth CO Mini Cooper 2000 Journey Racing
46 TTC Mark Bradley Fort Collins CO Audi S4 2001 www.Realtec.com
57 TTB Del Armstrong Littleton CO Mazda Miata 2004
90 TTU Forrest Thompson Lakewood CO Chevrolet ZO-6 2008 US Army
93 TTS Rick Snyder Broomfield CO Audi S4 2000 Avalon Motorsports\ AR Design\ Snymo.com
95 TTD John Clark Simla CO BMW M3 1995 Snyder Motorsports\ Content Pros
118 TTC Ren Finley Castle Rock CO BMW M3 1995
311 TTU Dick Radawicz Erie CO Porsche Carrera 4S 1996 RCR Business Consultants
420 TTR Robert Cowan Colorado Springs CO Factory Five Racing Roadster/Cobra 1965 Michele
609 TTE Zung Tran Erie CO BMW 330i 2004 Bionovo; Firefighter Combat Challenge
Schedule conflicts are going to keep me out of the first two events this year, but I'm looking to jump into the TT action this year as well. Looks like my Miata w/ fairly light mods will squeek into TTE if I've done the paperwork right. Just want to get a real seat & harness before I make the jump.

Rick (93) won't be racing this weekend because my car is in the Auto Show. Man I wish we were racing, sorry guys!
Oh, and for the record we're TTS now, not TTB.

I've got a NASA sticker on both the front and rear bumpers, was going to try and put one on the side too after the other stickers went on. Hadn't thought about NASA brochures and such, I could check with Avalon and see if they would mind me putting some on the car if you could get me the stuff...

Oh yeah Rick, <duh> I wasn't thinking about that. Got to get those races in so we're qualified for Nationals!
Dave, I sent you an email. Sounds like a great opportunity for NASA to get a little exposure at the show. It would be cool if you guys put together a booth there some year. Seems like it would be a great target market to me.

Well, when I signed up (early!) I didn't know Chuck was going to have the car at the Auto Show. So, I was just going to change the class and assign my new transponder number at the track. From now on I'll sign up with the right info.
 I'm not driving the pace car this year.

Well, I was planning on racing, TTing and instructing this season so I figured I wouldn't have time to drive the pace car at all. With no racecar at PPIR, I'll have a little more time so if you need a driver I probably could, but I hadn't planned on pace car duties this season. Sorry if you didn't know that.

Great :D - I was hoping for some competition in TTE!
I might just be in TTE also.
I'm currently signed up for TTC in an '85 Mustang GT. I know for sure either the class or the car is going to be different, but I don't know which it is right now. I'm hoping I can successfully throw something together between this Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon. I will let you know what I'm driving and what class it will be in on Saturday morning when I show up to the track.
Ferrari? I hope you're not teasing.

TTE is getting to the point where you guys can start claiming tires from Hoosier!!!

If you guys need another TTE car for Hoosier tires, I could hook up my Transponder when I'm out with students in HPDE4/TT. I'm pretty sure the MINI bone stock is TTE. ... but of course I'll be at 80% or less. :)

I ended up bringing a totally different car than I had intended on bringing, so the make, model and TT class were all different. Revkah uttered my favorite quote of the whole weekend. When I was up in the timing and scoring booth changing my information, I said I was going to be in TTG. Revkah turns around, looks at me, and says, "We have a TTG?"
Yes Revkah, there is a TTG.

Haha! I thought it was pretty cool to see a Capri out there, though. If I were going to build a CMC car (or maybe even AI car), that's probably what I'd do...they're cheap and better looking than the typical fox mustang. How was it?
Snymo
04-12-2010, 03:37 PM
Wow, you learn something new every day. Not only is there a TTG but a TTH as well. I always thought TTF was the "least fast" class. ;)

Yeah, but that's offset by the better aero of the rear window, which has a shape similar to that of a 944. :)

Looks like lap times of the Capri were only 6-8 seconds off cmc tines. Makes me want to build one even more :)

You've just entered the Twilight Zone...
...where Hank is trying to change this thread into something about 944s...
...a 944 driver is talking about building a CMC car...
...and a Mustang isn't a Mustang at all...but the Chief Instructor insisted on calling it one the whole weekend.

To run TTH, I'd have to be in a Taurus GL, Festiva, Geo Metro 1.0L or 1.3L, a TDI Golf or Beetle, or a naturally aspirated 4-popper Mustang/Capri. I think a TDI Beetle would rock in TTH.
Specifics on the Capri:
* 72k miles
* 112 HP 175 ft.-lbs. TQ (when new) 3.8L V6 with 2 bbl carb and most of the emissions equipment defeated
* 3 speed automatic (only 2nd and 3rd were usable on the track)
* 9.31" front brake rotors with cheapie NAPA pads
* 9" rear drums with factory shoes
* weak front factory struts and CarQuest replacement rear shocks
* 0.94" front sway bar and no rear sway bar
* 7.5" rear open diff (I think with 2.73 gears)
The only "performance" modification done before taking the car on the track was swapping a set of 225/245 street performance radial equipped 16x7 Pony wheels onto the car. Otherwise it's equipped exactly like it is when I drive it to work. It does also have a set of standard length subframe connectors and a custom bent 2-into-1 exhaust system with no cats and a Magnaflow muffler terminating in a relocated stock dual tip that were all installed by Hanksville Hotrods.
My fastest lap time of the weekend was about 11 seconds slower than the fastest CMC lap time. That's pretty significant when the CMC field as a whole is running a 1:08 something per lap. What was very satisfying was being able to hang with or pass some of the higher HP cars through turns 1-2 that would fly by me down the front straight. Unfortunately, when we'd get to the back straight, it was like I was driving an Imperial Cruiser and I was watching the Millenium Falcon make the jump to Hyperspace.
