Guys:
Does anyone know for sure if the Nitto NT-01 tire compound would be the same as the original Toyo R1 compound or would it be the newer R888 compound??
Thanks

I've heard rumors the NT01 compound is the same as that used on the R888, but I find it hard to believe. Having driven the RA-1, NT01 and R888, it certainly seems like the R888's compound is just a bit harder...

I don't know for sure and I've checked a lot with a lot of different sources. Nitto is a division of Toyo so they won't confirm or deny anything, but having driven the RA-1, R888 and NT-01 I can say that I believe the NT-01 is the RA-1 with a different tread pattern. They drive the same, wear the same and "feel" the same. The R888 is completely different. That's the best I can tell you.

According to Pete at the Tire Source, the Nitto NT01 is the same as the Toyo RA1, just a different tread pattern. I've run them both and they feel the same to me...

I can relay the same info, NT01 and RA1 are the same compound from what I have heard from vendors.
