Seems like our very own Clayton Cobb has been moon-lighting with that other 4-letter racing organization in CO. So much so that he got himself on the cover of this month's SportsCar magazine. The caption on page 4 reads:
"Clayton Cobb kicks up the dirt in his Mitsubishi Evolution MR at Colorado Region's May 7 RallyCross at Pueblo. Photo by Rupert Berrington...."
Here's the image.....

Clayton, here's a PDF for your scrapbook (http://snydermotorsports.tripod.com/temp/ClaytonSportsCarCover.pdf) in case you don't get SportsCar.

Hah, awesome! Hey, if you get this, then you're an SCCA member, too, right? :p Hey, what can I say? I love PMI so much that I go there for any kind of racing I can get. That day I did both the rallycross and drag racing simultaneously. I ran 12.50/12.47/12.46/12.44/12.41 in 5 runs at the drag strip in the middle of all the dirt flinging. Not bad for a day's work!
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten mine yet, but hopefully it will be here by tomorrow. Thanks for the PDF, too!

Yep, I'm a member of that other one too. Been racing there for 5 years now. ;) Nice work on the double duty, that had to be a long day!

Any day full of racing isn't long enough!! :(
The best part was hosing down all the dirt each time I'd come back from the rallycross runs. People were giving me funny looks, especially when I'd do that then bust a 12, hah...

Yah, sheared the teeth off 4th gear at the last NASA event at PMI.
Apparently, the 6spd has a very weak 4th gear and insufficient cooling abilities, so as the heat increases, the oil breaks down, friction increases, and it eventually pulls the teeth off. It is happening more and more with the 6spd Evo MRs, but it's not a problem at all on the 5spd regular Evo trannies. Apparently, Mitsu was just trying to match the STi, so it was a marketing effort vice an actual quality racing improvement. None of us knew that, though, since many of us were early adopters of the first MRs.
