View Full Version : car lift - in the garage

I'm going to install a hydraulic car lift in the garage, so I can get the CMC up out of the way, and be able to park the daily driver inside during the winter. (cheaper than a new garage bay, eh?)

Has anyone else done this? Or had any experience with these things? I'm going back and forth between a 4-poster (which has drive-on ramps, see http://eagleequip.com/page/EE/CTGY/LI-EFP) and a 2-poster (swing-out arms which lift from the underside, see http://eagleequip.com/page/EE/CTGY/LI-ETP.)

Pluses and minuses each way, but the idea of being able to get the car up in the air, with the wheels off, is attractive.

Thoughts/comments/advice very welcome.

thanks,
chris

I think I saw some of the 4 post models also have attachments and options which allow you to lift the car up for wheel and suspension changes.

Check here as well...

i have two eagles - one two post and one 4 post. the 4 post is much easier - much easier to load the car, just drive it on. the two post requires far more effort to load the car and needs to be bolted to the floor. with the four post you would want to get the steel trays that you can use bottle jacks on, as well as a couple of drip trays. you can lift the car as dave says. be sure you get some good wheel chocks to go with it - rubber works best for slip reasons. i have the aluminum ramps - a whole lot lighter. altho you may not need them, i got the wheel set so i can move it around. something you could always get later. if your garage has the room, get the extra tall one that an suv could fit under. it goes higher and makes working under it easier as well.

I would immagine the 4 post will make getting in-out of the daily driver easier, unless you have yugo orsomething. :)
