Will there be a NASA-spec dyno day in the near future ?
I'd like to see what the output on my car is based on the TTS adjusted rating.
I saw a thread here earlier about one early in the year, but might there be one before Nationals this summer ?

I can't speak for the TT group leader, but when we do the AI - CMC dyno day, we go to MAC Autosports. They give us a good price, and they are very familiar with NASA dyno rules.
fwiw.

thanks Chris.
do you know if there are any scheduled race group dyno days coming up ?

Garret, I'm pretty sure all the race groups have dyno'd already as they would have to have those numbers to be legal for racing. For TT it's more fluid as people change their setup throughout the year to get ready for Nationals. Heck, we've dyno'd twice already. As Chris mentioned most people go to MAC, which gives us all a consistent playing field (and they have great prices and service as well). My suggestion is just make an appointment at your convenience and get your three runs done for classing.
Hope that helps.

thanks Rick, maybe i can rally a few other folks for a mini dyno-day.
is MAC the place that can link the front rollers with the rear rollers to spin the front wheels of a rear drive car ? reason i ask is that my car has some stupid sensor built in that will not allow full revs when it detects no movement at the front wheels.

I know MAC's dyno can do 2WD and 4WD, but not sure about linking them together....don't see why not though, seems reasonable. Give them a call and let us know what they say.

Yep, I'll need to go as soon as I get my car up and running

What dyno does MAC use? Numbers on their dyno seem to be high compared to most others.

Dynojet. You can use some others, the acceptable ones are stated in the rules. I also used a Mustang, but NASA requires you add 10% to that number which actually brought me over the Mac number. We add 5% to our number as a buffer, just to be sure. Heard of too many disqualified at Nationals not to be careful.

I would jump in on that as well, I would like to get a reading on a Dynojet. I used a Mustang for classification.

Okay, i'll call MAC tomorrow to see if there would be any discount for a group and what size a 'group' needs to be for volume discounting.
Right now we're at 5, i'm pretty sure i could find another 5 for a total of 10 people.

Okay, called MAC today, spoke with Bill (or was it Bob... damn my memory).
Basically the normal rate is $65 for baseline pulls.
For NASA they will give a $5 discount, so $60 for baselines (no tuning).
There isn't really an established group rate so there is no minimum group number that we need to reach.
The first Saturday that they have available right now is July-24.
So, what do you guys think ?

I'm in Garrett, I might make a run at Nationals. Are they giving us 3 pulls for $60?

I can't do the 24th (SCCA commitment) or the following weekend (Hastings). Sounds like it is just $60 for 3 pulls for a NASA member, so really no group needed.
Garrett - Bill is most likely correct (owner of MAC).

Not sure if the TT group is required to have smoothing set at 5 (its required for CMC/AI, etc) but when we did ours (at MAC) it was set to 1. Make sure your printouts have it set to 5 if that is required.
OK, what I just typed seemed pretty repetitive...you get the point :)

Just so everyone is on the same page....from the 2010 TT Rules (v7.1):
6.5.2 Dyno Testing Procedures
A certified Dyno report consists of three separate, reproducible Dyno tests with SAE correction.
The highest peak horsepower number of the three tests will be used as the official certified
horsepower for weight to horsepower calculations. A smoothing factor up to five (5) is
permitted. The owner/driver may elect to submit a higher horsepower number for the purposes
of reassigning a base class to ensure that any Dyno testing done at another location or at the track
by the TT Officials will show hp ratings equal to or less than those provided by the owner/driver.

John, i'll be with you on the 24th as well so that doesn't work for me either. i was mostly putting it out there to show that they are booked up pretty good already.
and yes, looks like no 'group' discount, you can go one-by-one and get the $60 rate for baselines.
