Might have to add it to our list of online games for the winter months.

Saw that too. I haven't thought much of the driving dynamics on other Codemasters titles, but will give this one a try after they're available used.

Wow, that looks pretty good! Here's an onboard video of Spa in the rain:

I agree with Cullen, I'll try this one for sure but if the physics engine is anything like 'Grid' it will be a disappointment. The big question for me is, X-Box or PS3?

^^ This. Please PS3! I've felt very left out of the Forza competition.

I made the mistake of buying Grid, game trailers always look awesome. I hope this one is an improvement...

I'd give Codemasters credit for 'Dirt' though. That's not a bad racing game.

Not too bad, I liked that one. The Dirt2 demo was cool.

The G25 steering wheel on the PS3 certainly is preferred over the MS steering wheel, which makes me lean toward the PS3. It would be great though if this game has an online mode that lets Xbox and PS3 co-mingle.

You don't know how many times I've wished for this. Doubtful, but a boy can dream!

Agreed on the Grid comments, it had more of an arcade-y feel, but it was fun. And given Codemasters' history of releasing games cross-platform, I'm sure this one will be on both 360 and PS3 :)

Did you guys not see this in the article?
Note: F1 2010 launches on September 24 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, and is available to pre-order now from the F1 Store at Formula1.com.
So, it will be available for multiple platforms, but I highly doubt you will ever be able to play on an Xbox against someone on a PS3.

Got this game (Xbox360 version) as a present from Joy this morning. I'll be testing it out tonight and let everyone know what I think. I know Joel gave a review as well, but I can't seem to find it now. Can't wait to go through Eau Rouge and see how it feels!! ;)

I'm sure you'll like it Rick, but give us your detailed impressions anyway. :)

It was hidden as a side bar in the Gran Turismo 5 thread. Here it is --> http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showpost.php?p=40887&postcount=31

So, I've played a little for the last couple of nights and overall I'm pretty impressed but it's definitely not something we would all play online on a Sat night! ;)
The interface is a little clunky, but workable. It takes a few times through to find all of the different options and how the change some of the settings. However, you can change a lot of the car setup and from my little driving a small change can make a big difference in feel.
The steering is very touchy at speed and sometimes tight corners requires an enormous about of input. You get used it but it is different. Throttle and brake are just as touchy but maybe that's because there are 18K revs to play with and the thing will overrev looking at it too long! ;)
The graphics are really not bad at all. I've driven Spa and Suzuka in TT mode. Spa is just plain awesome and going through Eau Rouge is amazing. The rest of the track is just as good. Suzaka was very interesting. After driving it in Forza I though I understood the track, but there is much more depth of elevation and camber in this game. There are corners that are now blind entry and you just have to trust that the track goes where you think. They have track records listed for both tracks and I'm about 3+ seconds off on both tracks after 5-10 laps. Any off (even just two wheels) can invalidate the lap time and any off in the last sector will also invalidate the next lap (just like Forza) so it took a while to get a clean one.
I've also done Bahrain in the career mode, driving in the Friday practice. Talk about a tough track, wow! Lots of blind, tight corners. That one took about 10 laps just to have some idea where the track goes. Sector 2 is still just a mystery at this point, but I did end up 13th at the end of practice so not too bad. During official sessions the crew chief will talk to you about the state of the car, like "the engine is getting hot, back off on the revs if you can". I got that one while bouncing off the rev limiter for about 30 seconds through Sector 2, oops! :D
The optional views are really good. From Forza I prefer the bugs-eye view off the nose cone, but I'm trying to use one of the in-cockpit views to get used to where the wheels are as that might really help come race day when there are cars everywhere. The shift lights are also easier to see in this mode. One negative so far is there is no rear view window in any of the forward views except when you can actually see the side mirrors (or you push a button to see only backwards)...which at speed are pretty useless. I guess you could call that "realistic".
So, overall a very technically challenging game that I will definitely put more time into during the winter. However, due to the very touchy steering/throttle/brake settings I doubt this will be a popular multi-player game. It will take a lot of practice to get good at and there are games that are just as fun and easier to drive fast (FORZA!!!).

I KNOW! It's as if they reconfigured the track in Sector 2, because I don't remember nearly as many left-right-left-right switchbacks. Also, I use the same camera position as you and it really gives you an appreciation for what F1 drivers can and can't see. This sim is a real lesson in looking ahead, way far ahead.

Thanks for the detailed review. Better than any gaming mag review! I've been eyeing this one, but havent pulled the trigger. I think I will now. At least it'll keep me occupied while I now wait even longer for GT5.
I'm on PS3 though. Joel, are you playing PS3 version? Once I get a feel for it I'd like to see how it does in multiplayer.

Joel and I got the Xbox360 version since we have played Forza3 online a lot. I have a PS3 that is waiting for GT5 (still waiting!!!! :( ), but all of my other games are for Xbox360.

I used to have an xbox and wish now I hadn't sold it. I may try to find a cheap used one just for the forza play. I did love forza 1. But haven't played any of them since.
Craigslist here I come!!

Yep, I have both as Rick stated, but I'm using F1 on the 360. My first generation PS3 is just a glorified Blueray player and has been for a long time.
