I've lost my mind. I was seriuosly thinking of selling my Saleen and lookig for a C4 vette.
Where can I find good info on them. Questions like what powertrain was offered and which to stay away from.
I am looking at late 80s cars and really have no clue what I am looking at as far as which ones to buy and which to stay away from. I'm a auto tech so small mechanical problems are no problem and I have some experience with the TPI motors in the Camaros.

Good choice! The C4 Corvette is a very capable, reliable and inexpensive car for the track. You don't need to modify these cars much, if at all, to be competitive. I recommend the '92-'96 year models because of the LT-type engines and ZF 6-speed transmission.
The basics (assuming '92-'96):
*The LT4 was only available in '96 and was rated at 330hp. The LT1 is 300. Pre '92 cars had the L98, which eventually made it to 250hp. I had an '86 L98 car and the motor just fell off at about 4700rpm.
*Be sure to get the big brakes (J55 option code, quite common.)
*Look for the Z07, FX3 or Z51 option code. These are the heavy duty suspension options. FX3 is the most common of the three.
Let me know if you have questions. I went through a steep learning curve on these cars myself, and I'm still learning a lot about them. A good resource is http://forums.corvetteforum.com/.
Would be great to see another C4 on the track besides mine!

You may want to look at a C5 as well. I've seen some
C4s that can really go :D But I'm partial to the C5  The LS1 is a good engine...
The corvetteforum.com listed above is a great source of into, I lurke there a lot.
You won't be sorry either way you go :D

We'll be there. Michelle will probably be the one to show how it goes...
