We are in desperate need of your help! The track rental for Hastings is almost double what we had anticipated when we first planned this event and opened registration.

With our current entry list of 52 cars we stand to lose about $10,000. Yikes!

Please, beat the bushes and find some drivers to come out and drive with us. We don't want to cancel the event but this would be a hard hit for us to absorb.

If you are planning to enter but haven't had time please let us know ASAP so we can cut back on the Mylanta.

Bummer. $10k is a helluva deficit.

I haven't signed up, because I've been waiting on my transmission since the last event. It's ready, but it hasn't been sent back to me, so until I know for sure that it will be installed and broken-in, I can't register.

Bummer. Surprised they'd stick it to us like that when we're helping them get off the ground and get some early business. $10k is a helluva deficit.

Not so much that they are sticking it to us, but more of a misunderstanding. In fact, the track has gone out of their way to reduce costs and is throwing in a lot of "freebies" to help make it work.

The biggest hit so far has been lack of entries - they are starting to roll in. We expected to take a loss for this event due to the increased costs, just not a huge one. If we can hit the target of 80-90 entries as originally planned we're good - at only 55 entires it's causing a bit of .

Keep strirring!!! I know it's odd, but in many cases I am not allowed to post on other boards announcing our events. I've had posts removed and told not to come back to the forum (and no, Audiworld is not one of them;)).

In general, members of NASA are allowed to talk up events. It's NASA staff making posts that irks people (understandable).

Dave, when will we know when, if it is being canceled.

I'm not too concerned about NASA's fee, because I assume it will be refunded, but I'm concerned about making a hotel reservation and not having enough time to cancel it to be refunded.

Dave, when will we know when, if it is being canceled.

At this point we will not cancel. We made a promise to have this event and it will happen. There are a lot of people looking forward to Hastings (drivers/spectators:cool:/track/staff) and to pull the plug now would not be right. We will chalk it up as a learning experience (illusions of grandeur?) and move on to 2007!!

Thanks to everyone for stepping up and passing the word. My apologies to those (Bruce L.) that got bashed on other forums for attempting to spread the love.

Thanks Dave for the reassurance, would not have expected anything less from NASA Rocky Mountain. I think you and Revkah are doing a great job, and everyone else too :D

I hope that the weekend is a success, I look forward to running with everyone here for a long time

Dave & Others,
I feel like crap that I just can't swing Hasting.
I kinda new this would happen when I signed on to go to
"the Big Show in O-hio"
The week off, all the money I spent out there and a broken Camaro leave me no choice but to stay home.
I believe Tommy is in the same boat.
Corey was done after Pueblo in July. We will be back next year.
Good luck in Hastings my RMR brothers....

Raybob and Tommy -

Bummer, but if you have to miss Hastings for any reason, Nationals is a good one.

Now, if Dave can manage to find one more race weekend this year, on a track with no snow...

"Denver, CO - The Rocky Mountain Region of the National Auto Sport Association will be providing free NASA competition licenses to new racers who enter their German manufactured race cars at the September 30 – October 1 event. The event will be held at the recently completed Motorsports Park Hastings, a 2.3 mile road course located in Nebraska.

In order to be eligible for the free license, racers must be new to NASA and must enter and compete in one of the following classes at this inaugural weekend: GTS Challenge, 944Spec or SpecE30. "

Okay, I'm confused Chuck - Do they have to be licensed by another sanctioning body? My goal is to run in GTS, although the car is not ready by any means. I've signed up for HPDE1 expecting this event to commence the licensing process, expecting to be completed late next year. Can I completely bypass all this by just signing up to run GTS this upcoming weekend?

here is the whole thing.... you need to have the car ready to race next weekend ( next year I hope to have a 944-spec car to rent for first timers/ introduction, not for profit just to help build the class) and you need to be qualified to race/ready for a nasa lic. (work your way up in HPDE or have a different club lic. to convert).

Thanks agian Dave and Revkah For helping out the racers and drivers in the Rocky Mountain area!

Denver, CO - The Rocky Mountain Region of the National Auto Sport Association will be providing free NASA competition licenses to new racers who enter their German manufactured race cars at the September 30 – October 1 event.

The GTS Challenge class features “run what you brung” rules and is divided into six sub classes that are based on a simple horsepower to weight ratio. The flexible rules of the class make it open to any BMW, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, or Mercedes that meets the minimum safety requirements. The class which is run under a “13/13” no contact rule has been very popular, often fielding 40 or more cars in just its 2nd year.

The 944Spec and SpecE30 race classes are two of NASA’s limited preparation classes which attract fields of closely matched Porsche 944s and BMW E30 chassis vehicles. The cost of building a spec car for either is under $10k, which is a bargain for the performance and fun factor that is found in this class.

Existing licenses from other sanctioning bodies can be used to easily apply for a NASA competition license. To start the application process all that is needed is a copy of the existing license and a copy of a medical form less than two years old.

For more information, contact the NASA Rocky Mountain Region at: info@nasarockymountain.com or by calling 720-810-4850. You can also visit the following websites for more details on the new track or one of the above race classes:
