Thanks for the compliments but Clayton aka "Warrtalon" has much more done to his car than I do, I'll be lucky just to be able to keep up. All I have is a catback and I'm only on street tires. :D

Dave, currently, those pics aren't resolving for me - I just see red X's.

Doh, so I missed an opportunity to hit the track with a fellow EvoM road racer. You know as much as I do that mods don't determine how fast you get around the track!! You know I'm still a noob, hah. ;)

Damn I think the bird lifted a tire in that shot - most airtime since running Baja. Now if i can get the auto trans out of that thing we will put more distance on them stangs.

Where are the pictures of the bus? I want to see the bus. Hope he gets the wing soon. That will help keep it down in the corners.:D :D

The "HUSKER TRUCK" Apparantly a loud, fast, bright red Dodge truck in Nebraska has a certain appeal to the locals. People sitting in the beds of their own farm trucks in the unfinished spectator area were cheering and waving.

They worked for me earlier at home, but I can't see them now at work. Blocked site?

Where are the pictures of the bus?

All photos were confiscated and destroyed. You can expect two men in black suits to show up at your door shortly. Just look at the little red light.

You can't go wrong by taking an old diesel school bus, removing the seats and replacing them with couches and rolling chairs along with adding a giant unmuffled big rig stack running vertically up the side just behind the loading doors, and then overloading it to standing room only and taking folks for an "orientation lap".

You can just pick out the exhaust pouring out the top of the stack on the other side. HOT!:)

Damnation!

Well, I only recognize DaWorstPlaya, since his handle is the same on EvoM, but I sure wish I was there. Incidentally, my new Shep-built 5spd trans is now in CO and should arrive tomorrow. Now, I have to wait a good 6 months before I get to hit the track, argh!

The "red" husker truck is as I say "informally" for sale. Track days like MPH push me to keep it but days I dont "competitively drive it" (I didnt say race :)) make me want to get rid of it. What other 5000 pound vehicle can carry all your gear in the bed, compete with Porsches and other competitive vehicles on a roadcoarse, get 4.0 mpg doing so and make those around it and in the crowd do a double-take? If I dont get rid of it expect it and me to return to a track near you or with you next year...if I'm allowed back :)

I may try and go into the capri/mustang thing or get another Viper...one thats been driven a bit. Seems the rocky mountain region is in short supply of V10 power so I need to fill the void.

I think I'll pass on the shot of me and the Subaru (Cullen's "grocery getter" I think?--a darn fast one though). Too bad there's not shots of my better moments--there weren't many of them. :o

Good to hear Clayton, you'll have to let me know how you like it. How much did it end up costing you total for the entire conversion?

On another note, we'll have to try and meet sometime next year during a track day ...

I don't know why were always the first ones there...Clayton, if I get the go ahead from Dave, I'm going to post some scoop on open track days down here in NM, for those of us jones-ing for more track time

No problem as long as it isn't conflicting with a NASA event (Phoenix or RM). Anything we can do to build motor-racing in NM is good for all.

We need to get down to Sandia to actually run the track - we might join you!

Hah, actually, I don't even know yet. It started out with Shep taking my 6spd apart, then calling me to tell me it was totally trashed to the tune of about $2500 to repair and upgrade, but he said he had no confidence in the 6spd withstanding my future racing plans. So, he told me had some remanufactured 5spds waiting around with all his great work already done and said I could probably buy one of those for less than it would take to fix the 6spd while being bulletproof. I decided to go with it, but before we got to actual cost and pricing, I gave him my sponsorship pitch, and he has been considering it.

I think he will agree to free labor with deep discount on parts, in which case it would cost far less than normal, but I still don't know what that number is going to be. The trans itself arrived today, and the final bits and pieces shipped out today as well, so I'm sure he and I will be on the phone tomorrow settling up costs. That's what's great about Shep - he did all this work and sent the stuff to me but hasn't even taken payment. Hopefully, my price will be lower than anticipated (full retail). I also am having him go ahead and fix the 6spd, then I will sell it as a fully rebuilt Shep-spec 6spd.

Cullen, let me know, man. I'm dying to hit the track...

Here's the poop on our two tracks. Arroyo Seco Raceway is an absolute blast of a track, 1.6 miles with 14 turns. The drawback is that it's in the southern part of the state. here's the link http://www.arroyosecoraceway.com/dragtest.html
Dates for ASR sports cars (in white) are the open track days, $75 all day green flag running, passing only on the straight. When I've been down, there's been 10 - 15 cars total. Usually 6-8 on the track at once, lots of room.
The other track is Sandia, here's the links
http://www.sandiamotorsports.com/
http://www.swms.org/
I've not been there, it's outside of albuquerque, and I don't know the schedule but you can see on the swms site that they have open track days on fridays, sometimes...I called a while back and it sounds like they have them often, and it costs $35 or $40 . I haven't done it because you can see from the lap video, there's a lot to run into. I'm more confident as a driver now and will be going down (walls, what walls ?). If any of you folks are planning to do it, PM me, and I'll try to make it. ASR track days, I'm planning on doing both Oct and Nov dates. It's a bit of a haul for me too, but the oct date is also the weekend of the first Rocket Racing Leauge event, outside of Las Cruces.

Should be able to see them in the skies from the track. I kinda think that racing rockets at 5000' ought to be pretty f***ing cool !!

There goes your resale value :p Who'd understand going from a 6-speed to a 5-speed? Not that it matters once you gut it and weld in a cage :D

Can't go wrong with a Shep tranny - I love mine! If I can ever get my wheels and tires and get a few other things taken care of I might be able to make another track day or two at Pueblo before the weather gets bad.
