That is a whole lot of Miatas, 42 cars! Where did everyone go?

I think they all wrecked eachother...

Just kidding. I would've loved to have raced with a group like that! Except I was too young to even drive back then

I remember meeting you, Dave - when you had your Spec Miata. It was a Miata Club track day at Pueblo and there was this friendly guy with the awesome "real racecar."
You were cool to hang around with then - and you still are now!

I remember that day! It was probably November of 2004. I had just bought my first "fun" car, a MazdaSpeed Miata and had discovered the Miata Club. Because it sounded like fun, I brought my son to this thing the club was doing called a "track day" somewhere in Pueblo. Not only were the Miata guys really nice, but some race team called Panther Racing had an amazingly fast race car there. Needless to say, I had a blast and it's been downhill ever since. :D

Crappy Economy=No people racing

If i had money I'd be out there right now.

If SpecMiata didn't have dudes spending $30k+ on a little race car, things might have changed for the good.

But yea, when people are deciding between mortgage/car payments and going racing....racing loses.

It's not economy that kills one class. There was SM genocide here in RM.

Genocide? Hmmm, I don’t think there was systematic extermination going on within the class (Drivers). Perhaps it is taking place elsewhere within the Club? I know almost all the SM drivers and find them to be a very helpful friendly group. There always lending parts and helping each other with repairs at the track. I miss my Bro’s!

30K for a Spec Miata? I know where there are at least 3 very competitive cars for considerably less than half that. One of the top SM cars in the State sold recently for $10,000. It cost far less to purchase parts from Mazdaspeed than Porsche. The repair bill on a 944 is twice what it is on a Miata. Don’t misunderstand me, I love the 944s, I’m just saying the Miata’s cost far less to build and maintain. Last week I attended a local event that had 19 Spec Miata’s in it. I disagree with the 30K theory.

This economy is killing many racers!!

I don’t share some of these views but much of the smack I hear at the track says NASARM is turning into a club for HPD and TT not Racers. I hear complaints about to many race classes being grouped together causing mayhem. I must admit I loved running with CMC at the last NASA event I attended. The CMC drivers are tons of fun to be around.
