A new racing class, the American Road Race Series (ARRS) will be making it's debut this coming weekend at PPIR.
ARRS is a low cost, high performance class that races late model stock car type chassis.

Chuck, Dave Wright and I have been slowly developing the class over the last year and this season will serve as a "testing" phase to refine the class and rules.

Here is our website with preliminary rules.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.
See you at the track! Just look for the biggest, baddest, and loudest cars, you can't miss us!

Thanks, though for some reason I can't reach the pedals anymore.

Wow, I just fired up the engine for the first time this season.... I forgot how insanely loud it is, my head hurts. And yes, there were flames, one almost singed my eyebrows off when it shot out the carb while I was setting the timing.

Where is the rule requiring the beer to be presented to be a Coors Light? And no rule requiring mullets? I need to write a letter.

I can imagine. We have a muffler on our firebird now, because the previous side-exhaust (by the passenger door) 3" diameter pipe was so loud you could hear the car 2 developments over. You had to lean in and yell in the drivers ear for them to hear you in the garage. Physically painful...and that was with an underpowered engine!!!

Chris:

I looked over the rules and might have missed the spec but are quidk change rear ends allowed?

Thanks

I wondered about that too, a lot of the late models I've seen for sale do have quick change rear ends, and it'd be nice to have in case one breaks. According to the rules, if it's not specifically stated that it's allowed, then it's not allowed. But I seem to remember Chris saying that his car has one :D

Yes! Quick changes are allowed but not necessary because we have a spec 2.80 rear end gear. The 2.80 gear was chosen for a number of reasons, reliability (less shifting means less breaking), safety, top speed (Chucks 3.60 was topping out at both HPR and PPIR), and other details. All of the current AARS cars have quick changes in them except for mine, I have a ford 9 inch.

Thanks for reading the rules Racers ! We will fix that one . Any solid rear axle is allowed but drive ratio must be 2.80:1 ...

Any other issues or questions ?

Ok, I'll tell you what ARRS. I'll go ahead and win the RM 944SPEC Championship this year and retire the #37. Then, I'll buy a stock car and get back to my LA (Lower Alabama) racing roots... yeeehaaaaw!

(racing junk.com has a TON of options!)

Am I missing something on the schedule for PPIR? I don't see when the ARRS class is listed to run?

Wups! Sorry, but I obviously didn't know what "STR2" meant.

ARRS.us is not a national class ... STR2 is a NASA national class , so we run in STR2 but with our own rules.

Chevy , crate engine 604 , or Ford 347 Sr.
