data acquisition system group buy

They recently had a 20% discount offer. I used that last year to buy my traqmate, and the total was less than $900, the best deal I found.

I really like the traqmate, and recommend the package that included the remote dash display. A lot easier to work with, and worth the extra $$$

Data acquisition systems are a total mystery to me. Can someone give me a Reader's Digest version of what they do? I've gone to the various companies' websites, but they write their stuff as if you already know what the product is...

basically just a way to record your performance all around the track instead of just a single number like lap time. You will be able to see segment times, accel and decel rates, lateral G's etc. You can do things like try different lines through a series of corners and quantitatively assess which is actually best for you and your car. They work really well if you can get a good driver to drive your car and record it. Then you can compare your performance in the various segments of the track to theirs and know that you should be able to achieve more. Early on it is better to spend money on seat time.

Bruce is all over it. like normal... also if you put the unit in someone elses car you can see where they are beating you ... spec -944 will all have the same unit and swap around data info to make the slower guys faster... tighter racing more fun.

I will be looking into video overlay so when someone rents my car they will have a cool video of them spining out or what ever. video overlay also has a track map.
