GENOA MOTORSPORTS COUNTRY CLUB RACE TRACK – FAQ

THE TRACK

What will be the first thing you build?
The 6.26-mile asphalt racetrack. A racing facility is useless without asphalt on the ground and ready to run on. Buildings and other amenities can be built at the same time or after the asphalt is down. We want drivers to get on track.

Is your track for members only?
NO. We have two circuits, 3.72 and 3.17 miles in length. We will build the entire 6.26-mile course at one time. We don’t believe it’s in the best interest of racers and enthusiasts to plan and announce a track and then build only part of it. One circuit will be available to members and the other circuit will be available to car and motorcycle clubs. These can be rotated so that both members and car clubs will enjoy the variety of two circuits that will run safely in both directions. When a circuit is not rented, we will have open test and tune time available.

Will the clubs renting the track be paying for the entire Country Club?
NO. With two available circuits (each with their own paddock) the clubs renting a circuit will only be paying for the cost of that circuit.

Will clubs be able to afford renting a circuit?
ABSOLUTELY YES. Our financial analysis and business model allows us to offer competitive market rates, while offering more amenities. Our rates will be lower than what many of the local enthusiasts have grown accustomed to. Our goal is to provide value, while at the same time providing an unparalled experience.

What amenities will be available to clubs in the paddock area?
The main Paddock building (see our Paddock building renderings) will have garage space available to club members when renting the track. This building will also house race control, classrooms, observation areas (you will be able to see most of the track from its vantage point), as well as proper restrooms and showers. Additional garage buildings will be added as we grow and demand dictates.

We will have areas for those who bring their “home on wheels”. If you have a self-contained RV we will have plenty of space. For those who need or want RV electrical hook-up, we’ll have dedicated pads for those too.

OK, so you are at the track and need gas for the street or racecar. We will have fuel stored and ready to pump in the paddock area – yes, this has been approved in our zoning permit.

What are the advantages to having a known and experienced track design team?
The first and foremost is cost. The old adage “you get what you pay for” is true for racetrack design. Because of Martyn’s experience, insurance costs are typically lower based on his proven “track record”. A proven track designer can be pretty certain that when the track is done it will pass requirements for certification. Bottom line - less costs, cheaper for the clubs to rent.

Another advantage is – SAFETY. When a track has little or no Armco guardrails relative to the racing line, like in our design, there are fewer structures that a car can hit, reducing the potential for damage to a car. This is another insurance cost factor. Less risk equals a lower cost, passed on to the clubs.

Do the track circuits have elevation changes?
YES. The traditional and accepted method of calculating elevation changes for a track is to take the highest point and the lowest point and the difference is the elevation change of the track. The 3.72-mile circuit has 109 feet and the 3.17-mile circuit is 104 feet. There are many additional changes of elevation between the highest and lowest points so that the rolling terrain of the property is fully used for the driver’s enjoyment.

What utilities do you have?
We will be using municipal water (town of Genoa). We already have 12,470 volts three-phase power on the property (enough to power a small city), and have data lines, telephone, natural gas, and fiber optics running to the property.

What about the other motorsports related venues you have on your 2700-acre site plan?
Our concentration is on the 6.26-mile asphalt road course and amenities. We have set aside approximately 1,250 acres (out of the 2,700) for others who may want to design, build, and operate their own motorsports related venues. We are looking at this site as a family park where dad can do one kind of racing mom can do another and the kids could run go-karts or race ¼ midgets. The County Club Members and car and motorcycle clubs that rent the 6.26-mile racetrack or either of its circuits will not be financially supporting these other venues. If you are an enthusiast/entrepreneur wishing to build and operate a race venue on our Park site, just call us.

We openly welcome any questions or comments; please contact us so that we may be able to answer them. We will respond to each one personally and if we think they are of general interest and we are able to answer them, we will add them to our FAQ. This way you can get the answer straight from the source, us.

For those interested in our Membership plans, we will be adding a Membership FAQ soon.

I think the biggest thing we can all do is to help spread the word among those we know - ie car clubs we're apart of, friends who might be interested, and anyone else we can get the word out to. Let them know about the website and have them get their club leadership in touch with Kevin to see how they can support the effort.

I havn't been out to look at the sight yet, but all the locals are backing the track. I feel like a kid at christmas every time I think about having a track 9 miles from my house!! Until now SCR and Lajunta have been the closest to me.

Where exactly is the track gonna be? South of Genoa, north? I'd like to see/watch its progress while I drive back and forth from Goodland to Denver about once a week. Just want to know which side of the truck to look out of.

Your looking depends on if you're coming or going to Denver :)

Exit 371, south. the property starts about .8 mile from the exit.

Elevation!!!! Check out the latest map on the website. http://www.genoamotorsports.com/images/tracklayout.jpg

Making up turn #'s and runnning the track CCW, here's what I see.

S/F to T2 - 50 foot climb
T2 to T4 - an additional 50 foot climb

At the top of the hill (T4) you dive back down almost 80 feet (what is that a 6-7 story drop???) through two fast sweeps to T7 which connects to the west side.

You shoot back up the hill to the highest point on the track (5450') which is another 90' gain in elevation. Head down the hill over a 40' change and hang on for the very fast right hand sweep (T11???) where things flatten out for a while.

Coming around T14 you'll be setting up for a 3/4 mile straight which drops, rises and then drops again for a total drop of 60 feet.

Top elevation 5450'
Low elevation 5335'
Total change - 115'

Remember - I'm a CA boy who grew up at and learned to race at Laguna and Sears Point. I'm very excited....

ditto on excitment, but due to experience at Mosport (and one fun weekend instructing at Sears Point)! You don't know how disappointed I was when I moved to the Denver area, and then realized that all the tracks were flat!
cheers,

I've driven Mosport and until then Laguna Seca was my favorite track, but Mosrpot makes Laguna seem flat and slow in places. You need a giant set of b@lls to drive Mosport fast. WC Touring cars were turing laps around 1:30 for the 2.5 mile track. That = FAST!! Great track, excellent places to watch the race, and rabid fans!!!

This is going to be nuts! Those are some large elevation changes.

leggwork
02-02-2007, 07:55 PM
there used to be a crest at the end of the back straight where I heard some CanAm cars in the 70's became airborne, flipped in the air and crashed. When I heard they were going to spend quite a bit of money to redo the track in that area to lower the crest, in my naivete, I asked why the racers didn't just know to slow down there ...

"If you build it, they will come."

In other words, I can't f'in wait :D

And yes, please bring the elevation changes and technical corners! I was a bit disappointed in Miller for its lack of such elevation delta...

I just watched a dvd this weekend and it covered the history, development and racing footage of events at the Nurburgring. Someone should build something like that!:D I love running that track on my GT3 & 4 games and I never tire of it. Now if I could just get a chance to go over there and drive on the real thing.

But I can't ignore that setup for the full course here. Maybe it will be done by the time I get my comp lic. (fingers crossed)

That elevated hairpin on the east course looks very similar to "oak tree" at VIR. Very cool, now it just needs some undulating esses, so I don't have to drive all the way out to Danville, VA. Looks like it's going to be a great track. Opens next week, right ?? :D

I was going to say that it looks kind of like a mirror image of Laguna's highest point, I think it's turn 7?

Vintage Motorsport article on Genoa. The nuances of the track can't be "seen" in a map, but believe me, they are there.

I agree it would be amazing. I'm not going to allow myself to get too worked up over it, however, as I don't want to be disappointed if it gets delayed.
