Sandia is having an open track test day on Sun 1/28. It is tied into some miata and legends racing, however the road course is open to anyone (SWMS, NASA, SCCA etc.) Fee is $75 for the day, track goes hot at 10:00 A.M. I am planning on going down to try out my revamped suspension, and Jim, down at the track has guaranteed great weather !! Hope to see some of you there. http://www.sandiamotorsports.com/

By the way, if you've never run this track, you'll want all the time on it you can get !!

Cullen,

Do we need to register ahead of time and are there any tech inspections required? Do you have an email address for Jim?

Nope, he said just show up with 75 clams. They open at 9:00. I'll be coaching hockey in Santa Fe that morning, so I won't get to the track until 11ish. Mmmm...track time ;)

Great thanks. I can't wait to try out the DOT-R's.

Yeah, Taos too. I just ignore that stuff, plus we don't have to commit to being there. Anyway, I'll be throwing the race tires in the back. It's nice to have a wagon !!
Here's a lap video http://www.swms.org/video.htm

C'mon down, you Colo folks, it's not that far...

I just checked the weather, it's supposed to be 50ish next weekend. Just to inspire you guys that are wussy about long drives, I'll be driving Taos to Colo springs and back on Sat, to Santa fe Sun A.M. then on to the track for the rest of the day, then back to Taos that eve. I love to drive, don't you ??

No, I hate driving, haha.

I was tempted by this open track day, but that's too far for me unless it's a real event. I can get test time 45 mins from home at PMI, so I'm being a wuss. I have to bide my time and use it wisely, because I can only leave Ann with the baby so often...

Man, oh man, was it nice to get out on track again. Temps were in the high 40s, maybe warmer, and I got to break in a new set of tires !! They gained me almost 9 seconds a lap over my trip down in Nov. Sorry that the rest of you guys couldn't join us (John and Nancy came out) It was a hoot watching the Legends, and the Miatas go flying off track. Not enough racing though, March will be here soon, see you then. Oh Dave, I met Soren, and he thinks there are a couple of weekends that NASA could pick from for another date. Hmmmm....

Man, this kind of looks like my own personal thread doesn't it ? Kind of like Chuck's 944 threads (which were something else to begin with !) Anyhow.... Sandia is hosting another track with a very similar schedule to the January Sunday posted above. It will be 2/25. I'm not sure if I will make this one, but John rumored that he would be taking the Porsche out again. Mmmmm.... track day.....

How far is Sandia from Denver? I need to get some track time and shake down my car before Pueblo

I'm planning to be there on the 25th. Tommy I think 6-7 hours down I-25, then about 15-20 minutes west of Albuquerque on I-40.

Yeah, Tommy mapquest puts Denver to Albuquerque at 450 miles. The track is not that far out of town, since it's all Interstate, I would think right around 6 hours to the track. I still don't know if I can make this one...

Thanks. I am really going to try and make it down there. It would be nice to get some track time before the race season

There's some options at Pueblo too. Check the Miata club on the 10th or an open test day during the week.
