Here are the steps to applying for a NASA Comp License. All of the details can be found in Sections 13 and 14 of the NASA CCR. The CCR can be downloaded from http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules.html.
No license with any sactioning body
If you have no past racing experience, you must go through the HPDE program or an accredited racing school. After completion you will be granted a provisional racing license.
Competition license with another organization
If you have a current (or recently expired) racing license with the following groups: SCCA, FIA, GrandAM or PSR do the following:
1. Fill out the license application (http://www.nasaproracing.com/images/rules-forms/form_comp_license.pdf).
2. Enclose a copy of your state driver's license, your existing comp license, a copy of an existing medical (i.e. from your other license) and the $70 license fee and send to the national office.
If you have a current (or recently expired) racing license with the following groups: RMVR, PCA, BMWCCA, Nostalgia, NASCAR or other group not listed do the following:
1. Fill out the provisional license application (http://www.nasaproracing.com/images/rules-forms/form_provisional_license.pdf).
2. Enclose a copy of your state driver's license, your existing comp license, a copy of an existing medical (i.e. from your other license) and the $70 license fee and send it to the NASA Rocky Mountain office.
Depending on your qualifications, I may issue a provisional license or I may forward it to the national office with the recommendation that they issue a full National comp license.
