Hey everyone. Just an FYI, I am part owner of a vinyl graphics company that has the ability to do car numbering and/or any vehicle decals you may need.

I will be making magnetic #s for my Saleen when I race. We can do the magnetics or stick on. They come off easily with a blow dryer and a hard edge. Let me know if you need anything!

Rich.

thanks for the post Rich, but I thought I read in the rules where magnetics weren't allowed. I know there are some "minimum" adhesive graphics available...do you have those?

What you saw was no "metallic" numbers. People were getting clever and using shiney aluminized numbers. The glare is terrible and are often unreadable:cool:.

Magnetic and static cling numbers are great for HPDE cars!!!

Yep.

If you don't want to go all out with a magnetic set, the blue (or white) 3M masking tape to create numbers will work as well. Its not pretty but it gets the job done and comes off easily.

I think we will go for some magnetic #'s can you suggest anybody that makes them?

any graphics shop should be able to make magnetic signs. There are two grades of magnetic base stock - go for the better stuff.

Store them flat as well. I have found that the magnets don't stick great on cold mornings (they don't conform to the doors as well). You can tape the leading edge for extra confidence in them.
cheers,
bruce

:D

I have a huge roll of the magnetic backing.

Can the car # be anything you choose?

Thanks Rich, I just returned your e-mail. We'll do Magentic numbers for Jamies Camaro. I just need to get a number I guess.

Dave, I guess we just pick a number like in SCCA as long as no one else has it. I will need to secure #43 for my Camaro, that has always been my number in SCCA AS. Can we permenetly buy the number so no one else in the region/class can use it?

I've been told that the national office is working on the web app that will allow you to reserve a number online. In the meantime, I will put you down for #43 and #34 in AI.

As a side note, we aren't overly anal about duplicate #s. It happens on occasion and it isn't worth everybody stressing over, so we just work with it.

Good point! 944Spec folks should also register their number with the class leaders so they can get their name in lights here:

I'd like #97 for Saleen 86-0097 and my SVO. I don't immagine they will both be on the track at once, unless someone steals one! lol

Dave,
Are three digit numbers OK?
