NASA LaJunta Raceway Participants,

Thank you for registering for the June 2nd and 3rd event at LaJunta Raceway. We’re looking forward to another successful, safe weekend!

If you arrive Friday before we do, please reserve the south/southwest corner of the paddock for Tech, Registration, and the NASA trailer.

The schedule can be found at the end of this letter – please note that the schedules are different for each day. Registration and tech hours will be from 5pm-7pm on Friday and open at 7am on Saturday and Sunday.

If you registered online, your confirmation is your receipt. There is an entry list posted online – double check your group and car number to see if it is correct.

Everyone entering the LaJunta Raceway property must stop at the paddock entrance or registration and sign the waiver. You’ll receive a wristband (no charge for entry) – wear it at all times for both days of the event so you will be able to get in and out of the paddock.

Saturday night’s catered BBQ will feature some outstanding food that you won’t want to miss. As with all NASA BBQ’s everyone is invited including your guests. Please RSVP and let us know how many dinner tickets (no charge) you will need.

All Drivers
FRIDAY:
Tech and registration will open from 5-7pm. Beat the rush on Saturday morning!

Important Track Information
• The speed limit within the paddock is 10 mph. Pit lane speed limit is 35mph.
• Children under 14 and pets must be supervised at all times.
• Do not leave used fluids or tires at the facility.
• In the interest of safety, only licensed drivers may operate wheeled vehicles anywhere within the facility. This includes bikes, scooters, ATV, skateboards, etc.
• If you are parked on an asphalt surface, place boards under jacks, trailer legs and canopies to prevent damage. If you spill fluids get them cleaned up quickly (water on gas spills, kitty litter on oil/etc) and report the spill to a NASA official if you need help.

Photography Services
Keith Upton from Performance Imagery will be providing photography services and will be available in the trailer classroom. For information go to this link in the NASA forum, http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=903

Sound Limits
There are no specific sound limits for LJR, but we do suggest a limit of 103dB.

Fuel & Tire Service
There will not be gas available at the track. Gas stations for 91 octane and lower are less than 5 miles away. If you need race gas, you need to bring your own!!! There is no tire service at the track so please plan accordingly.

Food
The concession stand will be open Saturday for you to purchase breakfast, lunch and snacks. We will be hosting a BBQ for all staff, drivers and their guests at the end of the day Saturday. On Sunday the concessions may not be open so plan accordingly.

Camping and RV Hookups
Overnight camping is permitted at the track, with limited RV electrical hookups for a small fee.

Hotels
There are several hotels/motels in the LaJunta area:

Video
If you haven’t seen in-car video of the track, here is a link. As you can see it's a twisty track with NO elevation changes.

Directions
The track is just North of US50. You can get to LaJunta by coming in from I25 on I50 but many people coming from the Denver metro area choose to go I70 to Limon and then take state Hwy 71 south to I50 and then east to LaJunta. There is very little traffic going this way.
HPDE/TT Drivers

The Mandatory HPDE/TT driver’s meeting is at 8AM on both days in the classroom trailer. Make sure that you give yourself enough time to unload (tires, tech, etc) and attend the meeting on time. DO NOT BE LATE OR YOU MAY MISS TRACK TIME!!!!

If you have pre-registered online:

-- and have a signed tech form, you do not need to go to registration. Go to the driver’s meeting where you will receive the required “color” wristband. This is the preferred route and is the quickest. Check the NasaRockyMountain.com website for a list of certified HPDE tech shops where you can get your tech done for free.

-- but do NOT have a signed tech form, arrive early!!! You must take your car and helmet to tech which will be located in the southwest corner of the paddock. After tech, go directly to the driver’s meeting where you will receive the required “color” wristband.

If you did not pre-register or there is a problem please go to registration.

HPDE Tech Forms
All HPDE/TT drivers need to bring the signed tech form to grid for your first session, placed under your windshield wiper. An official will collect the form and place a group sticker on your windshield. You will not be allowed on track without the completed, signed form and your wristband!

TT Car Classification (TT drivers only)
If you have not already filled out your car classification form you need to download one from http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/Time-Trial-Classification-form.pdf. Turn your completed form into registration before your first session. If you do not have a NASA TT license, contact the RM region immediately!

Passengers
Passengers are permitted in HPDE3 (with permission of group leader) and HPDE4. Spins and off course excursions will result in loss of passenger privileges. Passengers must be at least 18 years of age and sign the passenger waiver at registration. They will need a special arm band which will cost $5.
Racers

Friday Test and Tune
Due to regulation changes, the City of LaJunta no longer hosts open testing and NASA has no plans to have open testing.

Registration & Tech Procedures
Fill out the race tech form and NASA logbook then take them to tech to get your tech sticker. Race groups will not receive a second wristband. Go out for warm up according to the schedule!!!

http://www.nasaproracing.com/images/rules-forms/form_race_tech.pdf

Race Group Driver’s Meeting
The driver’s meeting will be both days at Noon at tech. Roll will be taken – missing the meeting will result in loss of qualifying times.

Logbooks
All race cars must have a NASA logbook with a current annual inspection. If you do not have a NASA logbook, please make arrangements to get one issued this week or at the track on Friday. The cost is $20 for a new logbook and $10 for an annual inspection. There have been issues with non-compliant cars failing NASA tech even if they have logbooks from other sanctioning bodies, so make sure you are up to spec. Improperly welded cages, lack of inspection holes, non compliant fuel cells, improper seats/bracing and out of date belts have been leading causes of failing tech. Use the CCR as your guide.

Decals
Please review the CCR for the NASA decal requirements. Some classes require sponsor logos in order to qualify for contingencies. Registration can supply stickers.

GTS/AI/CMC
Competitors in these classes are reminded to review the requirements for dyno information per the rules.

Standing / Flying Starts
The format of the start for your class will be determined by the Race Director.

NASA Grid and “Splitters”
It is the responsibility of the competitor to know their starting position and the order of the groups. Check the results board to verify your starting position prior to going to grid. NASA does not use a splitter - it is the competitor’s responsibility to know if they are on the inside or outside row (including what happens if someone drops out on the pace lap). Please review the NASA CCR.
