Please feel free to add your questions and we'll get them answered.
What do you consider "vintage"?
Vintage racing means many things to many people. Nostalgia will continue with the same spirit that it's members have developed over the years. "We have an established history of attracting rare and exotic cars to thrill workers and spectators alike."
Typically vintage race cars will be vehicles 25 years or older that were competition race cars at one point in their past.
What kind of racing license will I need?
As the vintage group is a full bonafide race group running under NASA sanction and insurance, all competitors must be in possession or have applied for a NASA competition license. Depending on your past history you may be issued a full license or possibly a provisional license. The cost of a race license is $70.
This license will allow you to compete in
any NASA region in
any race class vintage or other.
Competition License Application
If you would like a full competition license vs a provisional, please submit a racing resume (tracks, events, licenses held, when you started racing, etc) along with your application.
Will I need a NASA membership? What about my Nostaligia membership?
All drivers will need to have a NASA membership. The cost is $45 per year (12 months) and includes a subscription to
Grassroots Motorsports Magazine. As an option for our vintage crowd, we are working on an option to receive it's sister publication
Classic Motorsports Magazine.

Are we racing under no-contact rules?
Yes. The spirit of vintage racing will not change and the rules regarding aggressive driving and car to car contact will be enforced.
As the vintage classes are under a strict no-contact rule you will have your own race groups and will never be combined with the "modern" race groups.
Can I only run my vintage car in the Nostalgia vintage race group?
No. Your car may also be used in HPDE and TimeTrials using the vintage logbook. If you have a full NASA logbook you would be welcome to run in the "modern" race group as well.
What is the difference between a Vintage NASA vehicle logbook and a full NASA vehicle logbook?
As not all vintage cars are up to date on the latest safety specs required for wheel to wheel racing, we will issue a special vehicle logbook that will allow for vintage racing provided you car meets the minimum required for vinatge. Of course if your car meets all of the NASA CCR safety specifictions for wheel to wheel racing we will issue a full NASA logbook for the car.
What are the vintage safety specs?
If you meet the minimum specs for clubs such as Nostalgia, RMVR, SVRA and VARA you're most likely good. NASA vintage may have two rules that exceed these specs, but everything will be reasonable and competitors should have no issues meeting them.
Here are the rules that NASA/Nostalgia is based upon.
http://www.nostalgiaracing.com/nrirules.doc
The primary difference between NASA/Nostalgia saftey specs and other vintage group safety specs are the dates on the seatbelts and the requirement (starting June 3rd) for an SFI38.1 certified head restraint. All SFI rated seatbelts must be newer than 2 years from the date of manufacture.
Upon meeting the NASA Vintage Safety Specs you will be issued a vintage only vehicle logbook.
This is a painless 5 minute process!!!!!
Where are the NASA competition safety specs?
All of the rules can be found in NASA's CCR which is always available online:
http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf
The specific safety rules that apply to wheel wheel race cars are in section 15. Again, if you wish to apply for a full NASA competition vehicle logbook you will need to comply to all items in section 15.
Is this for sedans and production cars only?
The short answer is NASA will support classes that support NASA and will have events for vintage open wheel cars. At a minimum the May weekend at Pueblo and August event at Hastings will have an open wheel race group.
Who can I contact for further information if I wish to speak with someone directly?
You can contact the Rocky Mountain regional office. The phone # is 303-539-9363.
Will Jimmy and Debbie Aretakis still be involved in running the program?
The Aretakis’ are looking forward to taking a step back from the administration side to concentrate on participating as competitors. They will however continue to provide valuable insight that has helped to nurture this successful vintage group over the years.
