Any plans for NASA-X in the RM Region?
I have heard great things about the HPDE and Time Trials programs as well as the Racing classes, but no mention of an autocross program in the region.
I have no idea how they would classify my car. The section 1.5 says "wt./hp ratio, total weight, high torque in the usable rpm range, body style, engine location, drivetrain type, advanced technology/engineering in OEM suspension, brakes, drivetrain, and aerodynamics"
2343 lbs/300 rwhp 250 ft/lbs Miata, front engine, rear drive, splitter and wing added(which I though were free mods)
Does anyone have a guess as to what class that would be? I am just trying to get a feeling for what other cars in the class would be.
I am always looking for other opportunities to run the car. Until I break down and accept the weight penalty and add a roll bar, autocross events are about the only option open to me.
Thanks for your time,
--Chris

I don't know where the weight penalty came from....?? You can ignore that for anything HPDE or TT.
We honestly don't do any auto-x here as there are too many other well run programs in the area. I don't feel that we could do it any better than what there is now.
We use our time in the parking lots for drifting and go after a different market.

The "weight penalty" is not a rules thing, it is a physics thing. If I add a roll cage, I add weight.
There are a lot of very well run programs in the area I agree. I was just wondering if there was the possibility of yet another one.
I do intend to make it out to one of the drift events as well. Any idea when those will start up for the season?
Would you care to venture a guess on classing in case I find myself in an area that does have NASA autocross?
And thanks for the quick reply,
--Chris

Dude ... that little beastie needs to be tearing it up on a road course, not a parking lot ...

Not without a cage.... it scares me.
I will probably put a cage in it next winter. I am still trying to "prove" the Miata can compete nationally with the FD Rx-7s in SSM (SCCA autocross class which stands for spend silly money)

LOL!!!! Sort of like our AI class (Astronomical Income).
We'd start an auto-x program if it was really needed and I could find someone to run it. I'm guessing about April for drift season to start as well.
